Oakdene Meetup Stuff

So far Myself, Trevini and Ali are planning to meet here before the crossing so any details of this can be posted here to save it getting lost in main topic thread

Worth mentioning

Our crossing time is Wed 22nd at 14:20 outbound, so we need to be at Euro tunnel for about 13:30 latest.

I'm guessing Oakdene about 11ish for coffee and cake, 12-12:15 depart for tunnel.

Sorry guys, but I am having to cancel the Germany trip. The recession has caught up on me and I just can't afford it. I am really disappointed but such is life.

Hopefully I'll be meeting you . . . iv'e got the same tunnel crossing as you guys. Just need to work out how long its going to take from Bristol [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ambusy.gif[/img] , how busy is the M25 between 9-10am ??

I would guess it'd be fairly busy. You'll probably hit traffic around the M4/M3 and Clacketts lane area - in other words, most of it!

Looking at the map, you have a similar distance to me to get there. I would reckon betwen 2 1/2 - 3 hours depending on traffic/riding style/stops.

If you go M25/M26, when you get to jcn 2a of the M26 take the exit and turn left at the roundabout onto the A20 and the Oakdene is about 500 yards on the right. There's also a petrol station there if you need to fuel up.

For those of you meeting at Oakdene be aware looks like a new speed camera is going up on the last downhill stretch (from the M20 north bound "on-slip" roundabout).

There's only a pole there at the moment, but looks to be getting a camera at some point.

I'll report back if I see the camera go up.

It's at the "A" point in the linked map ("B" point is Oakdene), couldn't work out how to get a pointer dropped any other way.

PS - If I can get half day I may well meet you all there just to say hi, as it's on my route home from work.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I know the area pretty well anyway - used to live in Vigo at the top of the hill and was Public Rights of Way Officer for KCC, although it was some 18 years ago now. My office used to be half way round the slip road at jcn 4.
