about the old, closed forum

as you can see the old phpbb forum is back online but also READ ONLY

i've tried importing the database from the old phpbb forum to this new one
so that noone needs to register and we all keep the data available
but it isnt working out
and as long as the forum isnt running properly i cant install the gallery or blog, coz i have to keep reinstalling the forum if things go wrong.

so the idea is:
1.the old forum stays read only
2.we all register on the new forum and take it from there.
3.the hot topics get copy&pasted into the new forum.
4.and if we ever run out of webspace or need another database parts of the old one get deleted to free up webserverspace (+-150Mb)
5.and if we ever need a 5th database slot. the old forum gets deleted completely

I know this is a very old post, but have you tried the phpbb - IPB converter script?

You could try asking the Norwegian baatplassen.no forum for help. They succesfully migrated from phpbb til IPB years ago and they are proficient in IPB setup. Ni\o hitches, no glitches, moved seamlessly back then. Just a thought.

Hey Tangy, thanks for the info.  Its a tad too late now as we have all reregistered but its always good to know that there are other IPB peeps out there.

Is the old forum still viewable ?

I had a shortcut to a topic that was linked from the current site but it was unavailable when Carpe had problems last Sunday.

I now have a Critical error /Debug mode message.

Perhaps it may be repaired ?

There probably is but it'd need someone like Gaz to make it happen mate. What info are you wanting ?
