Is this the time to let on that I speak fluent german? Oh, if your not a lager drinker, I know how to order dark beer. I spent 3 years studying in Bremen.

Na ja. So ist das Leben!! Interessant, nicht war?

Maybe I should learn how to ask for bits for an 850. I never learned any motorbike jargon and it could come in useful.

The shop you all need to look out for is the Konditorei. You'll be pleased to know that you will find one in every German town and village.

IT'S THE CAKE SHOP!!!!

That got your attention, didn't it?

For those of us staying in Liege, there is a very well-known bike road in the Mosel Valley which wouldn't mean much of a detour on the way to Masserberg. It is listed on bestbiking roads and the linky whatsit is at the bottom. We could do it in reverse, from Kinderbeuern to Cochem. If you put those names into Google maps starting with Liege, then Kinderbeuern, Cochem and then the final destination of Masserberg, it only adds 45 miles to the trip, but when you read the reports of the ride, it should be well worth it. Just a thought.

That is a very good road, as is the B259 back to Adenau and then the B258 if you wanted to head back slightly north west, or the B257 through Leimbach and towards Bonn. Cochem is a lovely town. I had toyed with the idea of coming back via the ring to Liege on Mon 27th and maybe doing the evening session if it's not too busy. That might be a better idea for on the way back?
250 miles to the ring and then @130 to Amay.

Sounds like a plan Trev!

Don't worry Cats, hopefully after Sunday we'll be able to play as well

Also, I feel a bit guilty not being able to contribute to the German language support, especially as I worked there for two and a half years (or more accurately used to spend 2-3 weeks in every month there) and have seen more of Germany than the UK. I would have loved to learn the language but everyone there spoke good English so I didn't have to bother
Now on 9er number 2 .....
<!--quoteo(post=185807:date=Tue 30th Nov 2010, 03:28 PM:name=Matlock)-->QUOTE(Matlock @ Tue 30th Nov 2010, 03:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Yep, it's alright, Ivan's not very good with calendars We're catching the 10am ferry on Wednesday 22nd June 2011. Here's my provisional itinerary to date:
 • Tuesday 21st June, leave home, travel to Dover with the Kellys and anyone else who wants to join up. Overnight stop in Canterbury at the King's Head (booked).
 • Wednesday 22nd June, 10:00 ferry (booked) to Dunkirk/Dunkerque. Ride to Liege. Overnight stop at the B&B Au chateau du temps in Liege (TBC).
 • Thursday 23rd June, ride to Masserberg. Staying in the Hotel Heubacher Hoehe from Thursday to Sunday 26th inclusive (booked), depart Monday morning.
Still not sure if we're staying in same Liege B & B on the way back on the night of Monday the 27th, or if the Carpe posse has any other ideas?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Hi, what time are you all intending leaving from Newcastle?

I`m coming down from Aberdeen but have no plans made up yet if you don`t mind another person tagging along?

No problem, but we're going from the North West, not Newcastle. Although given the number of Geordie accents in the group I can understand any confusion
