We had also thought about trying to see some WW1 sites (we had a moving visit to D-Day sites last year).
Any views would be helpful.

Looks nice Pete. Bit of a distance from Liege but the train station is only a 100mtrs away for the trip into Liege. 5euro return. Already checked!
Wasn't planning on using ferry (don't do boats) and probably a slightly later crossing (thinking about 1-2pm ish) so I get a decent breakie before we leave and we'll get to Liege for late afternoon.

I was intending taking the tunnel about that time too, Trev, so perhaps we can join up.

I thought you knew us better than that, ferries don't usually get booked until the biks have been assembled the night before the off

Fine by me Mr G. I'll post tunnel times once I get around to booking.

Trev, we're going to plan journey on 5th but I must admit in advance that the tunnel is my preferred method of crossing the channel. However, hopefully we can all co-ordinate our journey and meet up before crossing. What a shame that we still have 7 months to wait; its worse than waiting for xmas day when you're a kid
I'm working on the basis that the tunnel is about 3 hrs steady ride from home, there may well be a few people staying the night before, in which case we'll all have a hearty breakfast before we all leave and despite being like kids in a sweet shop, won't want to rush up too early (especially if we have a few beers the night before). So I guess we'll be looking at a lunchtime (ish) crossing, 1-2 pm maybe. Having said all that, it's not just about me and I'm happy to adjust times as necessary. It does depend a bit on how many are staying over at mine and what they all want to do. I think Moose is coming over the night before and maybe one or two others.
It would be good to meet up on either side of the channel and ride to Liege en masse. Speaking of which, I was toying with the idea of staying at the formula 1 hotel in Liege (dead cheap for an overnight stop). There's a restaurant nearby, but I don't know how good it is for food.

Me too, plus eating all the stuff I like without Mrs Saga keep telling me that its not good for you and trying to feed me salads!
Mrs Trevini has a good idea of a balanced diet - salad/vegie stuff for starter followed by cake/chocolate/icecream etc. We make an excellent partnership. I'm good at cooking bread, starters and mains, she's brill at desserts and cake. Our mission in life is to feed as many people as possible, as those who've visited will testify (I hope).
