Pen Drive Data Recovery
I can't seem to access my pen drive.

I've tried 2 free software prgs such as PC Inspector File Recovery (no sucess) and Piriform Recuva ('unable to read boot sector').

A company called Dataquest will extract the info for £75 - which is ok, but I wondered if anyone here knows about these things and can suggest/recommend any alternatives?

Many thanks in advance

Hi dmmsta

Have you tried connecting it to a Linux OS?

No I haven't. Apart from not knowing what that would do, I don't think I no anyone with a Linux OS.

But I'll ask around.

Cheers

You could download a free version to work within windows. Google Ubuntu.
Stu

Linux treats data differently to Windows, you may be lucky, and it just be Windows that can't read the pen drive...as Stu said, it's free, so I'd give it a go as a first option.

One of my guys mentioned some software he used for data recovery a couple of weeks back, but can't remember the name. I'll give him a shout and let you know (he's on his rest day after nights, so will report back once I get a response).

Tiny little program here: http://tinyurl.com/resterator which I have had unbelievable results with, deleted files from months ago come to light.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi Epirb

Let me know how it goes!

No joy Im afraid. It scanned the pen drive alright but there are no images on my drive - mainly PDF's and Excel docs. I'll keep that little utility tho - I'll guarantee it'll come in handy some day!

Cheers
