You can get a new electric one for about £208.33 from here

http://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spare...mp;modelID=9583

Still a lot for a new pump tho !

Failing that, you might well be able to fit a used R1/R6 pre-fuel injection model fuel pump, like some mk1 owners have done. Usually some on ebay

thanks for the welcome and advice. i think the pump is playing up because it surges on constant throttle, its like the brakes are being applied and then released, not the best description sorry. i have checked all the usuall pipes, new plugs, brakes are not binding etc .

IIRC couldn't you replace the early R1/R6 fuel pumps with a ford part off an XR3i for about £40.
If so could you do the same for the TDM, might need some plumbing and wiring but still, it's not £300 plus.
As long as the flow rate and delivery pressures are within the correct limits any fuel pump should work really.

Edit-:
2 on ebay
here
and here

I don't know much about leccy pumps but it seems odd that it could cause the surges, I thought they basically work or they don't work.

Pity you can't 'borrow' a pump to swap over and see if it cures the problemo.

There's quite a few tests you can do in the Haynes, for the pump, pump relay etc.

Are the fuel filters all noice an clean ? Fuel tank vent unobstructed ?
