Choose A Bike.............
Going to be single again in 5 weeks or so, new home lingers along with garden and double bike garage.

Keeping the 900 for touring. Want something large and chunky for getting to work (9miles)

Im also chunky (6' 16 st)

Im thinking: in no real want order:

Yamaha Dragstar 1100
Harley 1200
Honda X4 Cb1300....my Fav

I will have £5k to play with.

Suggestions?

It's got to be big & naked, please don't get a cruiser. I like all the manufacturers nakeds particularly the xjr 1200 sp yamaha with the blue & white paint & good suspension. Not enough to own one though.
TDM 850 Loud and unusual. CRM 250r Woo hoo! DT 230 Lanza Fiddled with.... Bloody hell, is that legal? GG Randonee AKA "I didn't think that was possible".
If that`s the style of bike you want then the X4 would be the one to go for as the drag queen simply doesn`t handle corners and the harley are all marketing and the bikes aren`t worth the money.

Another option would be having a hunt around for a triumph rocket as you should be able to pick one up with that sort of money and you`d have loads of fun with it as they do actually handle corners well. Only problem is that they can eat a rear tyre pretty quickly if pushed hard.
9miles....sounds loike a job for Hodaka.....Road Toad? Combat Wombat? Super Rat? Mayhaps a Dirt Squirt?
Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
Ktm RC8 or Superduke should see ya having fun on the way to work..
My Super Modded TDM has gone to a new home Sad

I'm now a carbon whore!

Moto Guzzi V11 Sport.
Had an XJR a while back and it simply wouldnt go around corners
Ducati Monster? Inexpensive used; fun; reasonably reliable.
This one. Put a silly bid on Ebay and won it, fantastic looking bike, went like SofAS in a straight line, and then came a corner......................

The ThunderPooch and the Bull Frog are just not the bikes for you city types.

I think this is what Dappers is refering to?

A colleague of mine has just bought one of these, (only in black) for a very similar distance commute to you.

Just a thought

Just took a ride to bikemoto. think thats what its called, Caversham road Reading, They had a X4 in there, thats gone and left with the most boring selection of bikes, Even the Vmax felt small to sit on... Still, nice ride through Berkshire

So, you have a TDM9 but are considering a Hardly for commuting?

I can imagine your commute - <i>"Start, rmmm, rrRRRRRRRRR, eeek! potato, potato, off."</i>

I think I'd be looking for something nimble enough to get through traffic, yet powerful enough not to need a disguise when you're riding it, and that also has possibilities for use when conditions don't suit the TDM. XT? XTZ?
3VD006578 - it's alive!!
You could try saving money on tyres with one of these
