How many laps did you manage and did you manage to remember much of it from one to the next?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I did 2 laps because at â¬22 a lap for 9 or 10 mins in my case. This vid is my 2nd lap a day after my 1st that I haven't edited yet.
How did it feel??????????
BLOODY SCARY!!! Thats how...... You won't belive the evelation changes and the off camber, blind corners on blind crest with a incline of about 30-40Ë either way, sudden drops in braking areas.... Oooh and the Carousel bumpy and scary as hell but you can see that in the vid.
No other track will ever come close and it's easy to see how Jackie Stewart nick named it "Green Hell"!!
Bike felt great as you can see how long I kept the ZZR behind and how much I made up each corner until I got fed up and let him go!! Just a bit under powered down the long curves (can't call the straight as they are not straight and most definatly not flat). Tyres were good enough for feet and peg scraping in most corners inc where I ran wide as the peg dug in a bit so I craped myself
Managed to see 135 on main straight. But it's easy to open it up in a straight line just ask Mr ZZR rider!!
Them barriers must be a bit unsettling too, not like the usual ploughed field or hedgerow back here
I also noticed in Daniels photos, a car that looked to be rapidly approaching a motorbike. I bet there were a few caged nutters suddenly appearing in yer mirrors.
That said, I'm green with envy and it's now on my 'must do' list

Were you tempted to blow more cash?

I can imagine. What struck me from the video (and playing a pc racing game once) was the lack of visibility, although I guess the rider would see a bit further than the camera. You were going for it at times and you held off that ZZR well. Doing a very fast lap there on a fast machine must take some dedication/brain-removal....

Does the vastly dropped front end make the pegs very low? I've only occasionally grounded my pegs (Hagon raises the rear a bit) and the bike (or maybe just me) feels a bit squirrelly at that sort of angle (I'm going to check all bearings and bushes to see if that is contributing).
I'd heard that the best tip for the 'Ring is,
"Don't race the locals"
Having seen your video I really want to go on a track now... I'll need to find some leathers.
Just watched the video and it looks one heck of a place. Well done all.
What really struck me was how much we depend on all the road signage and markings to warn us what's ahead on the open road. And just how bloomin' scary the 'Ring looks because you have no idea where the road goes. Really sunk in how much the signs etc tell us even if we don't consciously notice them.
As Colditz Castle now takes paying guests I've half a plan forming for next year that would take in the 'Ring. Quite fancy booking the BMW M5 run around the 'Ring with Sabine Schmitt (Who did the Top Gear 10min lap in a Transit van!) pricey but split 3 ways not so bad - she has probably done more laps of the place than anyone - then back the next day to take the TDM round having learned all the bends from a pro
I guess it's just gotta be done, one way or the other

I'd also heard that the roads near the Nurburgring were good.

To be honest I think I'd mostly made up my mind not to do it even before we left. The roads around there really put my own riding skills (i.e. poor) into perspective, and it became clear I'd need a hell of a lot more experience before I went out on that track! Having said that I think I learned a lot during the week, just riding the roads. There was a lot of talk about chicken strips, and apparently I had less at the end of the week than at the beginning! The scenery and the roads were more than enough without the potential of crashing into a wall, backwards and on fire, or being squished by a Porsche.

The roads are exceptional in that part of Germany. I can't speak for the other guys (apart from Ian, who wanted to do a few laps), but I wasn't too fussed whether I did a lap or not. In my view, it's a very long way to go just for a 13 mile lap, when there are stunning views and great roads all around the area, but then I'm not an adrenaline junkie. I am a petrol head, though and enjoy the atmosphere in and around the ring and wouldn't hesitate to take a quick car for a lap or two. On a bike, I'd have to think seriously. The cars can (and do) catch bikes very quickly and don't seem to give them much room. It would be so easy to get sucked into riding beyond your limits - I don't think I'm a particularly quick rider, so would be more at risk of that happening!Unique place, though and well worth the visit whether you ride it or not. Second visit for me and it hasn't lost any of the magic.
Daniel also forgot to mention, he got a peg down in Brugge on a roundabout.

Yes I did do that! I'm surprised you haven't mentioned your exceptional fuel consumption on the last day's slog. I was pleased with 59mpg out of my MK2, but you got 72 was it? Amazing!
