I don't know this guy but as you can see from his tyres he ain't no power ranger!!

I got a corner wrong a couple of months ago and stuck it in a hedge.. Daniel dropped his bike in a car park on monday so does that make us a couple summer riding, biking numb nuts who should have abs, all round air bags and stabilisers???

No?? Didn't think so!! We all make mistakes he could of ran slightly wide and got target fixated!! We've all done it??

The guy is full of adrenaline and counting his lucky stars to be walking let alone alive!!
My Super Modded TDM has gone to a new home Sad

its soooo easy to make a mistake, glad he is ok, best thing is that he learns from it, so in that sense he needs to be told that he made a bad mistake and should be more careful in future. His friends could tell him he's a numbnut or whatever just to make sure he listens!

I don't know what the big word for it is, but theres a lot of this attitude about.
Yet whenever I'm on the road, there are always bikes thwapping it everywhere and tossing caution to the wind.
Ignoring speed limits, not anticipating hazzard after hazzard,
then, I get on the net, and everyones like
" yeah ride safe, be good, ride within your limits"
It's all very two faced, imo.
I say ride how you want, try and be careful and don't be riding twice over the speed limit and then say you're a safe rider.
Or at least don't go on the net promoting safe riding after riding like Rossi.
It's naughty and makes you out a dishonest child.
Consider yourselves told.
I need a sig. indeed with plenty of frickin polish

Point taken everyone. For some reason I'd have had more sympathy if it was a TDM and not an R1. Maybe it's because I've seen the way some of the rocket brigade ride. Plus I'm only calling him a nob ed because he's alive and well, and probably agrees with me.

It may just be the case that the R1 isn't the ride of choice for plane spotters !
Glad to see common sense has prevailed on this thread and it's not descended into a Daily Mail-esque attack on sports bike riders. For the record, I have screwed up more corners than I care to remember. As I get older and more experienced, I screw up fewer, but it's a foolish man who claims he'll never screw another up - ever.
BTW, I'm loving the phrase "The R1 didn't make the corner". As Hawmaw as already pointed out, the R1 was probably perfectly capable of making the corner In my near misses I've always run out of skill long before I exceeded the bikes potential

Not saying he's a prick for riding an R1, after all I ride a Fireblade.

He's a prick for riding like a prick, he could have killed the poor sod in the car and that makes him a prick in my book.

I'm no saint but I keep the high speed antics for trackdays, the new Silverstone track is lovely!

A mate of mine had a similar crash to this and found himself in court, he got done for dangerous riding. He also has a limp from where they bolted his legs back together.

I also followed a few guys on R6's and an ZX7R, the numpty on the ZX7R fell off for no apparent reason, target fixation I reckon. But it's people like this that put our insurance premiums, give us a bad press and generally get on my tits!

Bet he has second thoughtsevery time he cocks his leg over a bike from now on.

This is the reason I don't want to get a sport bike.
I like a thrash on my TDM, every now and then.... only God knows how I'd be on a R1.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Yup, if like me you can resist everything except temptation, keep it real. Within minutes of me jumping on a sprot bike I want to explore my limits, it's all they are really good for. I'm not grown up enough to be trusted with an R1.

Did not make the corner! WTF? Fantasist. Then again their could be more to the story. Judge not.... etc.
TDM 850 Loud and unusual. CRM 250r Woo hoo! DT 230 Lanza Fiddled with.... Bloody hell, is that legal? GG Randonee AKA "I didn't think that was possible".

I think you may be missing my point here - I am not saying that he was or was not at fault

The only real facts that we know about this is that there was a corner involved, he was riding an R1 and any other facts from the picture - anything else is pure conjecture. Its that age old thing of seeing a sports bike, putting two and two together and coming up with five. Its a bit like me posting this and people immediately saying that 'his line into the bend was wrong', 'he screwed his braking up', 'he was on the wrong tyres'. (yes I know its on a track - its all I could find) The facts are, we just dont know the facts.

IMHO equally as dangerous as a rider lacking in skill is a rider who feels he is beyond error or reproach. I have screwed up enough times to know that I am capable of screwing up and, yes, I have found myself coming out of a bend a lot closer to the middle of the road than I would have liked to - haven't we all??

Its a bit like that age old thing when people take a look at your bike and say. "oooh they're deathtraps them things", "hahaha, I know somebody who is a paramedic and they call motorcyclists organ donors" - grrr!!! Funnily enough, these comments usually follow the question of, "whats the top speed"

Lucky boy Peter... I've half a tin of Radweld if he's interested, just PM me

My two bobs worth is that it's a hard thing to swallow people calling the bloke a dick when no-one knows what the actual issue was. Even if he was riding like a dick, we've all done it and maybe got away with it, so lucky us too. Erny has it right in my book, we're all too quick to condemn people before we look at our own performance. We all know the kind of people that ride bikes three days a year because they think they are "dangerous" and "deadly" and like to be called a 'biker' but so what, the differences between us all is what makes the motorcycle fraternity vibrant and exciting and the fact that, even if he was riding like a dick, we'd all stop and help the poor bastard.

At the end of the day it's the bikes we all love and the bikes that bring us together, not if you ride like a twat or not... Except the Twatty Riders Motorcycle Group, it's the riding like a twat that brings those together (but not for long).
The best part about falling off your bike is realising you can stand up under your own weight afterwards.
