New Bike For Markymark
At 96k miles, my 2003 TDM900 is having its stator replaced.

Getting severewithdrawal symptoms - been without the bike for 2 months now. So I have decided to buy a new bike that will cover me for commuting and touring.

Did consider a new TDM and will definitly have another one - but felt I should try out a few other bikes - the TDM was my first bike - so I need some experience on other machines.

Opted for an XT660Z Tenere - hope I dont miss the TDM's power too much, but I never really exploited the full capability of the machine - I am a very conservative rider.

Got offered £500 part-ex but felt that I would rather keep the TDM at that price and use it for pleasure. It also means I can become more familiar with the TDM - I can afford to attempt repairs myself and still have a bike to ride.

Collecting Tenere next Sat (9th) - Wish me luck - will still be attending TDM events. - And of course will be getting the yellow paint brush out.

Cool. Wish they sold those in the US - looks like a fun semi off road bike.
Congratulations Mark , I'm glad you're keeping the TDM, hope you get to 100k miles with no further troubles.

I had a XT600 owd thing, still had plenty of poke, enough to get you out of trouble.

I reckon you've made a good choice and it'll give you different types of rides to experience !
I had on of the early XTZ660, 93-99, apart from not being able to reach the ground, I never had a problem with it.
One 1200km day across Europe, pissed down for about 1100km, never missed a beat. Loved it.
Good choice MarkyMark, I've been looking at the Tenere as a second bike for a while but can't justify the price yet.

My other half has a XT660X and the engine is a pokey little bugger to say the least.

You may want to go have a look here XT660.COM, lots of info for the Ten and a great set of guys to boot, met up with some of the guys on there, as my other half drags me along as the "ultimate XT660 luggage"

Congrats, good choice and also looking forward pics and review.

I'm currently toying with a DRZ400SM as a little plaything to join the TDM and Burgman 650, but I really need to shift my now spare Piaggio X8 400ie first to have the space (& cash).

Anyone know someone looking for a low mileage 400cc maxiscoot please let me know.

Goerge White would not give me it.

They have so much compact ice around there that they will not give anybody a bike. They did offer to deliver free of charge during the week - but I will probably be at work - so I said I would will wait till I can ride it home.

I did try to convince them that I could push it accross the grass to the main road.

Anyway - I.m praying for a thaw. Hope to try again next Saturday.

Did ask if I could come and look at it in the show-room - but it was still in the warehouse. - Very grumpy.
