It's a marketing ploy by Sony BMG. They have both acts on their label!
Cowell happens to have quite a large shareholding in Sony BMG, so you are paying him anyway!
its not about doing something against the label, its about showing that most people dont want xfecktorstartalentless shite interfering with real artists
its bad enough having the reality shite on TV without having it in the music charts too

I understand that Tony,
What I'm saying is that this whole thing was invented by Cowell and Sony BMG to hype sales. Whichever song wins Cowell and Sony BMG win double payolla.

i'm not a fan of Sony(DRM rootkit was unforgiveable for breach of trust) or Cowell(too many reasons to list) but i dont believe that, have you seen the interview with the guy who started it on facebook?

Who really cares which song is at the top of "The Hit Parade"? ie. which song has taken in most money this week
what is this? 1958? It was a marketing exercise even then.
Is it really going to get-one-over on the very wealthy Simon Cowell? -who probably makes more dosh from the vacuous, manufactured drama of his flashy Karaoke contest on TV than producing cheesy cover versions.
Although I happen to think that X-Factor is total sh*te
, apparently around 20 million people watched it last week!
20 million being approximately 1/3 of the UK population.... Maybe the weight of public opinion is with Mr Cowell?
I don't watch X fakter but even i can see how it's stifling real and varied talent. I couldn't really tell one song from another, it's all just narrow-minded and self -opinionated meaningless drivel. When a tv company like ITV rely on x-factor for survival, it's gone a bit too far. The day after the recent final and what's on ITV..... X-factor best of the worst of the rest crap ! Cowel also seems to think that by filling his music shops full of his artists, people shopping there will also be able to look at 'other' music, which will help the real talent. I'd had enough when P Waterman was killing off music.Coming from an era when people chalked the dancefloor and no 2 records ever sounded the same, when music united people and lyrics had meaning, and when singers played instruments, I kind of pity the cowellites.I'll get off me soabox now ! sun and daily stars readers perhaps
Just a bit of fun for me. The idea of singing this in the pub just before Xmas dinner makes me chuckle, (no not the end bit). Also the new exposure will get the album heard by another generation. My kids pinched my copy bout 2 years ago.
Don't realy care what's No 1 as long as it's not another fooking Xfactor put together piece of shite.
Whoever came up with the choice of song, GOOD MAN!
Lets rock this christmas.
