Same here. Laverda or Guzzi, if someone gave me one of the others I'd sell it and buy 15 decent modern bikes with the profits.

2. Brough Superior SS100 - In 1928 broke world speed record for solo motorcycle 130mph!!!
3. Beeza Goldstar - Late one 58 on, Last ones produced in '63... Would really like one of these!
4. Henderson Streamline - Took a bit of head scratching
5. Laverda Jota - Early 80's
6. Matchless Silver Hawk - they had V4's in the 30's dont you know...
7. Guzzi Le mans - Late 70's
8. Norton Manx - Early 60's
9. Trumpet Speed Twin - Just pre WW2
10.Vincent HRD - Early 50's?

trivia:
The Henderson KJ (The 'Henderson 4') was <i>'the'</i> police motorcycle of the 1920's-30's in the US.
It was the only bike that could catch the souped up rum-runner's cars of prohibition.
Conveniently available with left hand throttle so you could squeeze off a clean shot without slowing down.

and Rolls had <b>no problem</b> with that. The ones with the J.A.P. engines were masterpieces.
When was the last time you saw a production engine with jewelry quality engraving?


No, not japanese engines... the builder's initials.

Oh it was the bike T.E. Lawrence killed himself on.

From memory -

These bikes were built at Superior Works, Basford, Nottingham. Just beside the railway!
I remember the place well as I used to work just down the road, at a weighing machine company - no not Avery.

The Superior Works were still there in the early 70's but weren't making bikes then - don't know what they did actually.
Not sure what happened after that - or before that really.

I expect there's loads of facts on'tinternet!
