Hi Emmett and any other interested parties. I've just had an e-mail from Bill Jurgenson. He doesn't offer much news - see below, but I've asked him for a copy of the article that had the photos I posted, and any other info he can provide (dates, numbers made etc.). I can manage the German if there's not reams of it. I invited him to join in and keep Carpe informed directly, so we'll see. In the meantime:

The development was canned after Yamaha declined selling the engine for such a bike: the unsuccessful TRX was a direct result of the MZ Cobra and the reason for Yamaha not selling the engine to MZ. There was a short article in MO back then about the Cobra from which I scanned the pictures. It is in German of course. A number of people here, including myself, are toying or actually in the process of fitting the 750 Super Teneré engine into the Skorpion frame: a sort of after the fact Cobra and a demonstration of what could have been."

I wonder why they wouldn't fit a TDM 850/900 engine in instead, alot of XTZ owners stick in TDM/TRX motors, seems strange to put in a weaker milder tuned engine?

<!--/colorc-->? Had a 600 XTZ engine? Wasn't there something else besides that? It's a nice idea though, kinda keeps the TRX thing going on. Actually if anyone's interested I'll see if I can get some pics of my mate Steve B's TRX. It was featured in MCN a while back and recently on fleabay; NWS frame, swingarm, GSXR front end, Maxton F&R, etc. I've been scrapping with him at trackdays recently and he pulls a 'kin great whellie on it too <!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
