Sidi OR hien gericke gortex ?
is gortex that much better for being waterproof ?
theres only a couple of quid between the boots so the price is not the issue.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I've got the Sidi Black Rain and the only time I've ever had water in them was when I went through a monsoon at the weekend with my trousers tucked in the boots, all the water ran down my legs, in to the boots, and the couldn't get out again, I poured about a cup full out of each

I've got Heinz Garlick ones, they're not goretex, they're "sheltex". Good boots but the problem I had is that with use the lining wears out taking the sheltex membrane with it, mine was stuck together with gaffer tape for a while, now its just shredded. I have sidi MX boots, & I think Sidi are the more durable make.

Don't forget the Alpinestars SMX Goretex, they are top quality boots. I had mine for 2 years, never ever got wet feet, even when the stitching split, the inside was visible but they were still waterproof!
I have replaced them with Sidi Black Rains, the only reason I didn't get the SMS Goretex's again was purely down to cost. The SMX's are £189, I got the black rains off Ebay for £75

I will be purchasing some soon<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I bought a pair of altberg, they're comfier than slippers, warmer than a very warm thing, waterproofer than a ducks @r$e hole, and just brill...........I think.
Also got Albergs, Field & Fell from their military range, outstanding boots! Never leaked, feet have never been cold wearing them
Just had them reconditioned after several years ownership at a cost of £45 and they're like new boots again!
I got some Gaerne boots a couple of years ago for £40 in a sale at Webbs of Lincoln
Never let a drop in apart from in a deluge on the M2 coming back from France -
water came down the tops of the boots though, before I got chance to stop to put me waterproofs on
I'd have another pair straight away, only I don't need 'em becaise these are so good
