To cut a long story short,-
Purchased a hydraulic brake light switch from HEL. Took a week to arrive.
Fitted said item. It leaked. After bleeding and refitting noticed fluid coming out of the top of the switch.
Emailed HEL and they said they'd send one out FOC ASAP and mucho apologies.
3 weeks and half a dozen emails later an envelope arrives with 2 in.
A week later I finally get some time to fit said switch and they're the wrong bloody thread!
Had to sorn the bike as After 5 weeks I still have no mot.
HEL. Useless. Don't bother. I won't again.

Edit - Linky dinky doo. http://www.h-e-l.co.uk/ So you don't make the same mistake.

Seeing this post reminded me of my experience with HEL. I ordered a 3 piece set as direct replacement for the 3 rubber hoses fitted by the factory on my 1998 TDM850. The 3 hoses that arrived bore no relation to those on the bike either in length or type of fitting. I contacted them and was told that it was usual to have 2 hoses running direct from the master cylinder to the calipers and to return the 3 hoses to them and they would send me a 2 hose set and refund the difference. The 2 hose set duly arrived, albeit without the "p" clips needed to stop them flapping in the breeze, but no refund. When I queried this I was told they had not yet received the others back.I made several more phone calls over thenext couple of weeks and ended up claiming the money from Royal Mail. The hoses fitted ok and definately improved the feel of the front brake but after about 6 months use I noticed some rust coloured discolouration under the clear plastic sheathing down by the fixing on the RH pipe. There is no leak and the brake works fine and has continued to do so for the last year so I decided to live with it rather than get involved in more frustrating communication with this company.

Bought Goodridge hoses off ebay for my S10, absolutely superb next day delivery, really well made and fitted a treat. Lot easier to fit them than bleed the bu--ers though.

Mate bought colour coded HEL ones for his bike and had a similar experience to you, wrong lengths, poor fittings and to be totally honest completely crap.

can only say they must have gone downhill, i bought braided from hel for my tdm 2 year or so ago, they arrived next day and were exactly as they should be, still ok and no sign of deterioration
I also had parts a few years ago hence why I used them again.
I guess the service has deteriorated in order to keep to a price?
