The avatar picture is actually in Greece, near Sarti, camping Platanitsi, but it looks almost the same. The Black Sea is also very nice (not everywhere), if you are going this way I can point out some points of intereset and nice beaches.
Hi - about time I introduced myself - 50+ & based in gloucestershire. Used to have a Thundercat but 420miles across the Pyrennes 2 up & luggage said it was about time to get a proper bike. I tried a Fazer Thou and it didn't feel like it was bending in the middle.

2003 with 20k on after the dealer offered me a good partx. Done 6k since January including the lakes & Southern Ireland. A bit tall for by short 29" legs but the extra ballast with swmbo & luggage means I can get both feet on the ground. Far more suited to the long distances although my shoulders ache more than with the 'cat. Good fuel consumption, slightly less manic speeds & I can overtake without getting a slap on the helmet - that extra torque makes it so much smoother.

Only additions are the GIVI panniers/box, fenda extender & front mudflap to try & keep the engine clean, and a home made rear mud flap to keep the mrs & luggage dry. Also got a handlebar mount for the old Garmin Streetpilot satnav - OK til it loses reception, lol.

Found the rear brake pad instructions useful & will look at the airbox sometime as not sure mods been done or not.

Just getting the chain done at 25k with the big service - ouch

Haven't sussed out the fancy pictures by the side yet, but rude not to say hello.

I think I posted some info on the 'stator upgrade' on another thread recently. If I'm not mistaken, I got the new one from electrosports, along with their claimed more sturdy reg/rect. Well, that last part is BS as I fried theirs and went back to the original. I'm in the process of replacing that with a RR98 unit someone suggested, which gives substantially more current capability. I'm often out of electrical power on the bike for my needs, so I got the highest current output stator I could find. I think a good rewinder could do the same job for around $100 US if you had the unit out of the bike.

Good luck!

Hello All,

Firmly believe I should post a brief introduction before writing anything else in this great community forum:

Name: Sammy (Samuel Cassista)

Moto: TDM900 – 2004
Km/Yr: ~10,000

I’m currently an active staff of the TDMitalia Club covering the role of POC for three Regions in the South-East of Italy: Puglia / Basilicata / Molise.

I have been lead to this forum thanks to my passion for Motorcycle Tourism and your project of an International TDM event in Europe (2011?) .

I hope my contribution to this community will be perceived as positive.

Cheers
Sammy.
Welcome Sammy. Hope to see you in 2011, I went to the German forum meet last year and really enjoyed it so I'm looking forward to the idea of an international meet up.

Drivability is ok but the gearbox is about the clunckyest ive ever experienced, I didnt really liked the driveshaft coz its just not smooth. Chain driven bike is much smoother on the throttle in my opinion.
It wasnt suitable for me coz of the distance between seat and pegs.

All in all it wasnt fun to drive tho it had shitloads of torque but the Yamaha twin is so much better to ride.
And the TDM was half the price of the Beemer.

More fun less money, what else does a biker want.

My heart beats for Yamaha, got a XTZ 750 Super Tenere as well, love it to bits.
