Danfay Ireland
Rang the above place who are the main and only importers of Yamaha in Ireland ( all shops here have to go through him to get Yamaha bikes parts and such.). I just wanted to notify them about the cracks that appeared from nowhere on either side of the tank in the exact same place. I did not want them to replace the tank or nothing like that.

When I rang them I got their mechanic and the attitude I got was shocking, you would think I was asking for a new bike. I told him the story and explained that my mechanic and a second one closer to home where miffed and could only say it was manufacturing he was like "yeah and!!!". I explained that I was wondering if he could direct me to someone who would take note of the problem as it is in a very dangerous area and that it could kill someone if it happened again. Petrol leaking on to a hot engine is hardly good for your health. He said that "what do you want me to do"! I told him it would be nice to let some one know. He said “well there’s nothing I can do if the bike is out of warranty” I said the tank is not something that breaks due to wear and tear and there had been no crashes or bangs on the bike. If he saw the area affected he would see what I mean. No joy he reiterated that the bike is out of warranty and there is nothing he could do. I explained that I wanted to contact someone about it and just let them know. He basically told me where to go.

The level of service over the phone was horrible. I am cuffed that I have only had to buy one Yamaha through them (the rest came via the UK). I have since tried in vein to get the consumer association of Ireland and Yamaha Europe in Holland to recognize this with no a response. I have given up but not forgotten that ****.

Sorry to hear you had problems with them Kang.

When I bought my TDM last year, the TPS was failing and one phone call to Danfay resulted in a new TPS shipped to my own mechanic in Kilkenny without any problems at all.
Kang,
When I find myself in these situations I always write to the managing director of the company concerned. I give them a direct bashing and say it as I feel. I have never failed to get a response and usually a positive one. Don't give up - don't let that fu&*ker off the hook. There are probably a 1000 mecahnics waiting to take that gob$hites job so don't hold back...thats my take on it.APW
Have you ever lent someone 20 quid and never seen it again? It was probably worth it.

All the above is good advice. Write or email to the big boss stating your treatment. Don't let it slide! Ultimately your bad treatment is taking the bread off somebodys table & I guarantee they will be less than chuffed. I have been in customer service for ever, since I could gurgle. The boss will definitely listen.

Unfortunately the Original owner passed away in 2007....http://www.independent.ie/unsorted/migration/danny-keany-121141.html

An article from 2005 mention a Terry Brooks as the CEO...http://archives.tcm.ie/businesspost/2005/06/19/story5816.asp

Afraid you'd have to pay about 6 quid to get a company report with a list of directors from the company reg ofice in Dublin Castle or one of the online companies like solocheck.ie

Hope you manage to get a letter to the chief executive/director and maybe one to Yamaha Europe while you're at it.
