Done: Homo sap navigation/ twisty thing on bars to make it go vroom/ grabby thing to make it stop (in front of twisty thing)/ 'leccy things front and rear to make it glow at night/ Sucky + drippy oiler thing to keep chains moist (!!) / Laser Pro Stock Race pipes / bleeding ear drums (see previous mod)
To do: Educate homo sap nav system to operate twisty + grabby things/ get ear plugs

Yeah, wortch checking with your insurance company. I've got RAC cover and when I wanted to extend for a trip to Germany they wanted a fortune, but Swinton happily gave me European "get you home" cover for about £40/year.

yeh had the same cover with same insurance but swopped insurance and got no cover!!!
I am with aa. They cover me rather than certain ve-hickle and were the only ones who would cover my ageing campervan at no extra cost. Search web and barter for best price. For those travelling far on worthless bikes, they often have clause that they will only recover up to market value of bike.
Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
carole gnash when i had the pan,broke down in derby on a thursday before the moto gp ,drove me to the borders and swapped onto another truck and then home approx 450 miles drove back down in the car after 40 wanks,a1 service from gnash but have changed because of a price hike [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ranting.gif[/img]

Not me personally but watched an AA dude repair a puncture in a tubeless at Box hill, there was a thread on here at that time so I was interested.
The guy seemed to know his onions and got the job done ok.
I had the RAC out in August in central london, the man turned up 45 mins later and with ten quids worth of petrol (I'd only had the bike a week!) on board. I gave him a tenner for the fuel and off I went, that seemed good to me as it was about 3pm on a Friday.
I spend £36pa on an Autoaid policy. This covers the bike, the car and the wife under one rescue/recovery policy.
The plan covers you for rescue/recovery should you need to have your machine recovered after an accident. (Apparantly quite a lot of breakdown plans do not cover this.)
It is a pay and claim policy, so you need to carry a form of payment with you. My car broke down recently with the wife driving and the £78 recovery fee was paid back within 2 weeks of me posting the claim form off.
I have my breakdown via Aunty Carol, and used it regularly with my old CB750 Custom... The guy (it was always the same guy) was very knowledgable and after a while seemed to know my bike like the back of his hand...
Carol Nash contract out the breakdown service to AXA Assistance and I worked for them for about 5 years, AXA used to vet every contactor they employed and tried always to get covered recovery vehicles for the bikes - it was to do with those precious Harley owners who didn't like to get their bikes wet...
Not sure if you can get breakdown cover from AXA direct though...

The bike is faster than the eye or the hand.
Reborn MK1 - rubbish exhaust, dirty engine, missing bolts, missing mirrors, leathal rear tyre, crap carbs - but it doesn't ground out like my old CB750 Custom used to do :-)
Now with DL650 handguards and Garmin Sat Nav
well thanks guys, i recently aquired a new"female" [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub.gif[/img] friend up scotland, and its gonna be a 500 mile,er round trip for wolfy most weekends!!!! so as you can imagine a bit of breakdown cover wouldent go a miss.... cheers

Strange that my and Jolly Giant's Wife were only looking at replacing out AA cover with this last night! As we have been paying The AA £130 every year and not used them in about 4 yrs and the last time was for a puncture in the Mrsisus car...
ask them for the 'no claim' bonus
if you havent used the policy and renew it then you can usually get a 20% discount on the next years [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif[/img]

I've been with them 2 years after being pointed to moneysavingexpert.com where there is a lot of feedback on them - almost all good (the main gripe being the 'pay up front then claim' - but hey, it's only £36 notes. I've claimed once (the cars fuel line started leaking and the wife phone me saying she was unwilling to drive it (although she admits she doesnt know how long she had been driving it like that for anyway!). She phone Autoaid and they had someone out within 45 minutes. The garage took her and the car home and swiped her CC for the fee and gave her a receipt. I printed off the claim form & sent it back with the receipt. 2 weeks later I got my refund.
The good thing is the husband/wife/car/bike cover & the price.
Also, the policy doc must be the shortest & easiest Ive ever seen - always a good thing! (I thinks its available on their website too)

coming out of aberdeen on my zzr and the rear end went all squishy(oo err) the breakdown came out to fix the puncture ,but was unable to because of the size of the gash (god knows how i got a gash that lenth , trailerd back into Aberdeen for a new tyre and back on to the road and some lovely drizzle and diesel spills on the roundabouts ,so to answer your question it would depend on how bad the puncture was [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/drinks.gif[/img]

I've been toying with the idea of A.A for the last few months. Walking through local shopping centre today I noticed special 1/2 price offer on AA. membership; â¬66 for a year. Think I'll buy meself an early pressie.
Mrs Landy and I are covered by RAC personal cover which covers us for any vehicle we are using (even as a passenger) and we pay for it with Tesco clubcard vouchers so we get £4's worth of cover for every £1 voucher. If I remember correctly it was £36 to cover both of us this year. We have only used it to sort out a puncture on Mrs Landys car but that was dealt with promptly.

It's definitely worth checking with your current provider - most of them say they recover after breakdown - not an accident. i guess it doesnt seem important until it actually happens.
