>>> INTRODUCE YOURSELF HERE <<<
Hi folks

My name's Jules and I live in the East Midlands, Notts/Leicester border.

I'm a newbie.....Passed my test last September and have owned a 2002 TDM900 for 4 months. I absolutely love it!
I wanted something with an upright riding position, comfortable for long and short rides and with a bit of uumph! Tried a variety of bikes, and it was a toss up between the TDM or the V-strom.......strom was a touch too tall but as soon as I saw 'Norah'...(my bike!) I fell in love with her!

I'm still learning, every time I go out and getting more confidence and experience all the time......she's just such a joy to ride, it's just a bummer that the 'summer' hasn't been so good here!!! Mind you, it's been lovely today so I nipped up to Squires....brilliant ride there and back...it's almost shame to get home again!

Hope to meet some folks here, get some tips and advice too.

Cheers !

G'day TDM comrades. Until 2 weeks ago I was a TDM wannabe but now I own a nice Black & White 2007 model secondhand. YEEESS
It's actually only got 1700km on it as the original purchaser bought it 08-05-2008 & only kept it for 3 months !! ?? He apparently REALLY wanted an FJR1300. WTF !?
I Live near Hobart in Tasmania & I'm back into riding again after the common hiatus due to kids.
To begin with I settled for a V-Strom 650 18 months ago & I still think it's a nice bike but it's just not a TDM. As far as Jap bikes go I've always been a Yamaha man !
For some weird reason TDM's don't sell well in Oz even though they are well suited to our terrain, roads & varied climate.
Most Aussies seem a tad slow as to just how fantastic these bikes are, but there are a few starting to catch on
Pretty much as soon as I spotted a picture of one on the Web it was love at first sight & It didn't take much to find out how popular & respected they are in Europe, etc.
I wanted one straight off.... It's been a loooonnnggg 18 months waiting for that right one to jump out & say " I'm yours " LOL.
Anyhow, I've been to JBX' site, what a useful & talented bloke he is! & I'm working on an idea for TDM's at present hopefully it will work out.

cheers & let the Farkling begin !!!!

Hiya all
just got my 850 today its on a n plate , got it to ride in the rain as my other bike a zrx1100 only gets wet when it gets washed , anyway back to the tdm is there anything i should know about the bike that i should change , its already got a scott oiler , heated grips(yet to be connected) , a simms(i think) pipe , and both lights work together on dip , also i live in calderdale west yorkshire , i have to go now as ower lass wants to get back on ebay
Howdo. If you're using it as your winter hack coat everything in ACF50 to make it last longer. You might also want to think about fitting some hadguards, there's a couple of threads in the knowledgebase about that.

I'm rubbish at model years, is that with the electronic dash and fuel light (referred to here as the Mk2a) or the analogue dash and fuel tap (Mk2)? If the latter you might want to keep an eye on fuel consumption and do the emulsion tubes if you're getting less than 45 mpg doing anything except town work.

No kiddin', I thought I were bad......its a mkI like wot we gots.
Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
er... ...I knew that from the other thread on sales didn't I ... where's the "I'm stupid" smiley

In that case forget the model year but but retain the comment about emulsion tubes. And check that the front sprocket is attatched properly. Some of us have had aftermarket front sprockets come loose on Mk1s

Nah m8 ya have a 3VD MKI there and lovely tis' too. I would simply ride the ting first b4 ya start fitting factory pro this n' that. Fill her up to the brim, reset the trip meter and report back here with the mileage ya got when reserve kicked in and that will give an indication as to how worn yer emulsion tubes are. 2-2 poipes look better than a 2-1.....more excuses to spend some ££££

Fazer joe here,
have been lurking around here now for a while.
mostly seeking info on the TDM

Well I purchased mine on August 2007, 2001 model 4TX , have done around 13K miles on it since then.
Had a 2500 mile trip around Europe on it in 2008. Its been a real joy to ride.
Am riding a 2001 Fazer FZS 600 for commuting and the TDM is for leisure and touring.
