While the cats away (Mrs off visiting her dad)

I went for a little ride out to Anglesey just 270 miles cracking ride weather good what more can we ask for
Due to overdoing a Saturday night 'social' I couldn't do much on Sunday so after a family trip out, I finally got around to fitting these !

The rear hangers came back powder coated black last Friday so after a bit of re-assembly, I got me new cans fitted. And what a pair of crackers they are, sounding great too !

Cheers

Looks great, I have no idea why Mr Yamaha made my hangers silver, a job for a rainy day.

Cheers Arthur,

It seemed daft given that the main frame is black but I suppose with the original cans being silver it didn't seem as noticeable. While I had the exhausts off it seemed sensible to catch them at the same time. I got both hangers and all four pegs done for £40 locally so not bad.

However........what I didn't fully appreciate at the time was the extra 1~2mm or so the powder coating adds so cue me having to dremel off some of the coating in the peg brackets to get them to fit back in as well ad drilling out all of the mounting holes. The copper collar which slides into the brake lever stub hole was also a pain to get back in. I was cursing myself profusely while covering myself in black dust yesterday !

Still worth it though. Plenty of copper-slip too on re-assembly and managed to get my header nuts swapped out for stainless dome nuts too.

Hopefully get a chance to give it a shake down ride tonight.
Got myself a set of forks from Portugal since my rebound adjusters have welded themselves in position. Forks came today and rebound adjusters are totally free and now drenched in some oil for good measure. Got a couple of 17mm bolt covers to fit when I get them on....gamble paid off...only cost me £80 delivered Smile
Give your old adjusters a good soak of plus gas or similar before you bung them in the back of the shed.  I did that with mine and and I dug them out a year or so later they worked again.

Put on mirror extenders and Majesty mirrors.  I'll see how well they work on my commute tomorrow.  I also fixed the keyhole on my new seat cover from where the upholsterer covered the lock. :rotflmmfao:

Nice ! Good to see good old fashioned clumsiness at work !

I rode mine a nice 160mile journey to work this morning and enjoyed every minute. The new cans sound great, engine seems to breath a bit better and pulls a bit smoother. The Airhawk seat is an absolute revelation and I don't know why I didn't pick one up years ago.

Now just gotta work out why me Scotoiler isn't putting oil on the chain as it should ! There seems to be oil in the tubes at various stages but not pulling through somehow. Ill download the instructions but I may be back !

edit : yep, looks like it needs priming.

Cheers

If mine isn't feeding, I put the flow on overkill for a bit to get it moving through, then back right off. Usually works for me.

I fired it right up onto 'prime' mode last week while running it around the garage but then got carried away fitting shiny stuff so turned it back down. Looking at the Scottoiler site I should prime it with the bottle and that should get it back working.

It came fitted to the bike from the shop so ive never really thought to ask if it worked from day one and never had the bottle and nozzle bit so have just ordered one of those too. Mines the HCR Kit and there are loads of threads online about airlocks etc so that should do it.

Cheers

Hi there,

gave her a good clean after the MT, changed the oil and filter, lubed the chain, and removed the handguards for the summer season. Saw that I need new front rubber. So next week - time permitting - I shall obtain a new MPR3.

Tomorrow, perhaps take the XT for a spin.
