Last 2 years I have used Carole Nash, who also insure my bike and give free european breakdown cover as well. My reasoning for this (rightly or wrongly) is that a few years ago I was on a tour with some friends in France, one guy lost the front of his bike riding over some grass next to his accomodation. A very low speed tumble but the bike landed on his ankle and he broke it. No damage to the bike. He had his breakdown/recovery with one company (AA I think) and his personal travel insurance with another. He didn't have a mobile so I tried to help him sort things out. £80 of calls later, the AA wouldn't recover his bike because it hadn't broke down and wasn't damaged therefore it was rideable. His personal travel insurer would help him to get home (by taxi, train, boat, train, train and taxi (all this on crutches), but wouldn't help with his bike (fair enough). Luckily, the people who owned the accomodation let him store the bike for free in their garage and he recovered it later himself.
The upshot is, I want may bike insurance, breakdown cover and personal travel insurance with one company so if something goes wrong, hopefully things can be sorted more easily. I have put the above senario to the Carole Nash reps and they reckon me and bike and wife would be sorted no argument. Havn't needed them yet, hope I don't.
