Curmudgeon's Mantra Or Empirical Fact?
"They don't make them like they used to!"

Is that true?

I look at my '97 Transalp, the TDMs on here that go back to the same time, my late GS at the time of its demise etc and I can imagine them going on and on.  They I look at the bikes being produced now, and I'm just not as optimistic.  Same for the cars, actually.

And yes, this has all come out as I pondered what to do about my TDM

Is it me? Or do some of this high-ticket items simply not come with the longevity we might have expected 10, 15 or 20 years ago?

Whatcha think?

(PS: my mistake.  Should have been in Hyde Park.  Could a Mod please shift it over?)
