Seem to recall that the ins. co. just puts a value, for example, of less than £3k, then if you need to claim, you'll need to prove it's value.  You'll prolly need some proof of it's value if it's above the insurers limit though and your premium might well reflect that.  Might be worth seeing if you can get classic bike insurance.
