At the NEC show we were persuaded to buy some Renapur. Haven't used them on the bike boots (they're new so it wouldn't matter) but on my work boots and my wife's shoes it seems to be good stuff (thick waxy paste) , and can also work on waxed cotton garments.

The problem areas for boots which I have found is in the stitching and joint overlaps, where gaps open up. Pressing plenty of wax (in the past I used Nikwax) into the stitching and seams worked quite well.

I tried all sorts of remedies when i worked as a courier including thin carrier bag liners. but the only really good thing i found which could keep me dry for 200 miles on the motorway in sideways rain were cheap nylon overboots like these (many to choose from) ....

I could wear the soles through till they were pretty ragged underneath, but because my foot was tilted forward when on the bike the rain didn't travel very far up and underneath
