My money is on the bike shop stuffing it up. They put in 4.5 litres with an oil change when they replaced the stator. We all know that is too much. I diagnosed it as the stator and not the reg/rec and told them this. They did their diagnosis and said it was the reg/rec then had to admit after they replaced this it was actually the stator. That meant they were a week behind (how that took them a week is beyond me) and had to rush through the rewind to make sure they wouldn't take too much longer as they had my metaphorical boot at the back of their head at this point having told me they could fix the issue in just over a week. It took them almost three weeks to get the bike back to me.
Needless to say I wasn't overly impressed with them last time and wouldn't go back now EXCEPT that I'm not prepared to pay for someone else's stuff up, therefore they can fix it.
