The weak point is the cable and replacing it is a doddle. Check by unscrewing it from the housing on the front wheel and pulling out the inner. If it is broke you will easily see.

To change it you will probably have to remove the shroud around the tank and clocks, 5 minute job. Just make sure the cable locates properly at both top and bottom of the cable before you tighten the ends.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
