Don't Buy A Windjammer!
<!--quoteo(post=156117:date=Thu 25th Mar 2010, 05:18 AM:name=fredtucker)-->QUOTE(fredtucker @ Thu 25th Mar 2010, 05:18 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Hi all

Bought a Windjammer today. In case you don't know , it is a neoprene skirt that fits around the rim of your helmet ( Oh, Matron!!). It's a brilliant theory that falls down in practice. It's advertised as cutting down wind noise and probably does if only you could get your helmet on. I have very little hair on my 56cm head and with a thin cotton balaclava found it impossible to get my helmet on. I just managed it without the balaclava but almost ripped my ears off in the process. Getting your helmet off again is equally painful. Anyone with long hair or a beard would have even more difficulty probably. A waste of £12.

I've had one a few months, and I initially said the same thing. It fairly ripped my ears off putting the helmet on, worse taking it off. So I got a pair of scissors and trimmed a little off the front and back (of the Windjammer, not my ears), and with my silk balaclava on and the right technique it's now not too bad. Even with my in-ear earphones in it's ok. Used it on a 5 day trip a few months back, and taking the helmet off/putting it on a few times a day was no hassle at all. I only use it on long trips as it's too much bother just riding around town, but it makes a HUGE difference to the wind noise inside my helmet. I won't ride long trips without it anymore....
