Rang the above place who are the main and only importers of Yamaha in Ireland ( all shops here have to go through him to get Yamaha bikes parts and such.). I just wanted to notify them about the cracks that appeared from nowhere on either side of the tank in the exact same place. I did not want them to replace the tank or nothing like that.

When I rang them I got their mechanic and the attitude I got was shocking, you would think I was asking for a new bike. I told him the story and explained that my mechanic and a second one closer to home where miffed and could only say it was manufacturing he was like "yeah and!!!". I explained that I was wondering if he could direct me to someone who would take note of the problem as it is in a very dangerous area and that it could kill someone if it happened again. Petrol leaking on to a hot engine is hardly good for your health. He said that "what do you want me to do"! I told him it would be nice to let some one know. He said “well there’s nothing I can do if the bike is out of warranty” I said the tank is not something that breaks due to wear and tear and there had been no crashes or bangs on the bike. If he saw the area affected he would see what I mean. No joy he reiterated that the bike is out of warranty and there is nothing he could do. I explained that I wanted to contact someone about it and just let them know. He basically told me where to go.

The level of service over the phone was horrible. I am cuffed that I have only had to buy one Yamaha through them (the rest came via the UK). I have since tried in vein to get the consumer association of Ireland and Yamaha Europe in Holland to recognize this with no a response. I have given up but not forgotten that ****.
