Mods; Oil pressure switch, neoprene rear inner mudguard, scottoiler, highway pegs,  fenda extenda, 1999 carbs and airbox, Kais suspension setup, later clutch springs, LED lamps, Metmachex swingarm, Hagon Shock, Oxford heated grips, 4 way fused accessory Bus, 17" 3CV front wheel, Michellin R6 tyres, GPS speedo, 5' ignition advance.
Went out this morning to practice my wet weather riding skills plus the bonus of dodging diesel spills n wet leaf litter avoidance. Had a great time just riding around the county.

New shoes this week, Michelin Road 6.  Trip coming up next week and the old BT32's would have run out of tread before the end.  Seemed an OK tyre but not great mileage.  See how these new ones go.  [Image: 397615067_10231787352376443_582027716807...e=654CAE34]

Today I rebuilt the fuel pump assembly and fitted it to the freshly cleaned tank. Tomorrow might be fire 'er up day.

Today it ran on one cylinder, time to pull the injectors.

Fork strip as one of the seals was forked, which I noticed after a 250 mile ride on Wednesday. I was planning on doing a fork oil change in the near future anyway, so no big deal. Just letting the legs drain overnight before the rebuild and refit tomorrow.

Got my injectors cleaned, they're spraying nicely, just gotta get them back in the bike.

Spent a fruitless hour or two trying to find a choke cable in UnZud.....

Because - last time I was out on the bike it kept stalling when i stopped due to the choke cable mount having snapped right at the base of the thread where it goes into the triple clamp and the boingy boingy roads around here were slowly pulling the choke out. Don't ask how long it took me to find that.

Any hoo, went to start the bike today and saw the choke knob flopping about, had a wee cry when the memory of trying to JB weld it came back. That idea ranks right up there with chocolate fire guards. On the bright side the bike fired straight up but no way I could go boingy boingy until the choke mount is fixed. As per the first sentence it had to be fixed, summer starts officially in a few days and I've only got 6 months registration so I wasn't prepared to gamble on getting a new cable from Japan or the UK before May.

Plan B, how the hell too re-attach the thread to the choke knob mount? Cat stranglers, as much as I love them for heavy engineering applications, are no good. Lots of duct tape, same, not enough sticky grippy. Then I had a NASA level idea, melt it back together, who cares if it looks like a badger turd if it works, eh?

Just to give it some more sticky grippy I made a wee o-ring out of irrigation pipe and melted that sucker around it, too.

Currently the blob is tied up vertical and I've got about 500ml of oil running down the cable, some might even go down the tube. Fingers crossed it all stays together and the lube lubes.

If you're wondering about the melty melty heat source I just asked my girlfriend to get really close to it and question it's masculinity. I dragged her away before it ignited.

On a more serious note. If anybody ends up mucking about with their choke cable, as I've been, be aware that the wee knurled knob below the plunger contains a tiny, I mean tiny - 4mm - spring which pushes on a wee ball bearing to keep the choke knob out when you use it. I was really lucky to catch the spring as it made a bid for freedom...

I started it up.... It's getting lonely since I sold the KTM640. Resisting the urge to go shopping, for now, so I'm back to just having the TDM

<p style="text-align:center;">Ohlins, PC3, fuel cut defeat, +4deg timing, 17" front wheel.
My 92's speedometer occasionally jumped and broke the end of the needle off.

Replaced the speedo, happened again to the 2nd speedometer.

Speedo drive was cracked.

Must have been over-torqued.

Replaced speedo drive and axle that had also been over-torqued.

3rd speedometer functioning well but for a couple of dead bulbs.

I have spare used bulbs...
Started it up, after 3 months of being stood.

Ran it into Edinburgh for Christmas shopping and a pie, at JT's cafe, Saltire Motorcyles.

And then a cross country run back home via the A702 and A70
