Is my fuel pump broke?
Well I have still not completed the mod. It seems that I have it wired correctly but am blowing fuses.
Question, should I have continuity when I touch one multi meter lead to the body of the pump and the other to either wire? I thought only one would be grounded [Image: dry.gif] ?

I can't say if one wire should be grounded (to the pump body) or not. I've not had it apart yet! However, assuming that one end should connect to the pump body (it seems reasonable), then the other end also connects to the pump body through the coil in the pump motor. Between one wire and body you should read 0 Ohm (or near 0), between the other wire and the body you should read the resistance of the pump motor. On the 900 this is only 0.2 to 3.0 Ohm. So you'll need a good meter to measure the difference.

Don't know if this helps!
Sorry for the lack of info. 92 850 with a R6 pump conversion

I hooked it up like Dazo23 showed on on old board of the same title,
"Is my fuel pump broke." With the relay.

Sounds to me like your new pump has a direct short [Image: unsure.gif]
Does it work if you connect it directly across the terminals of the battery? Black wire to the negative terminal, other wire to the positive .
Dazzo, you are correct dead pump! Any one got a spare?

Just a note....no relay is needed to power the pump. The pump draws a bit less than 1 amp and on the mk1's you can tie this into the ignition circuit, which is already fused (10A) . Make sure you connect the Black/Blue lead from the pump to the +12 volt line, the solid Black lead from the pump is the negative line.

You can see my writeup in the old forum or my R6 pump install on my '92.

Hope this helps.

If you search the old forum you can find my write-up I just did (a few weeks ago). On the Mk1's you can pull power for the pump (black/blue lead) from the 'red/black' lead from the left most relay located just behind the battery. This ignition circuit is only hot with the ignition on, and the kill switch in the 'run' position. This is also how the R6 is wired from Yamaha.
