[b]Sniffing around my sump and came across a small piece of metal. A tooth from one of my gear cogs, probably the 3rd gear.
[b]Good news and bad at the same time I guess
Good - found it.Bad - it's gonna be expensive
I was half hoping it'd be a bent selector fork at £40 new but it's looking like the 3rd gear needs replacing, possibly more.I can get me hands on a used gearbox from Germany for around £160 but I'm really wary of the condition. You can't really tell what condition it's in unless the whole gearbox is stripped.Failing that, I could buy new partshttp://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spare...mp;modelID=9584 but the cost of a 3rd gear cog is at least £160, and the 3rd gear pinion is £197. 3rd gear cogs are the dearest of all 5 gears....typical eh ! and there may well be more parts damaged.Just to compound the problem, I can't use a gearbox from the mk1, early mk2 or the TRX.
