Here's some pics of my oil pressure gauge already on the bike when I got it

With all the talk of oil use I made up a way to carry extra oil away from normal luggage using 90mm PVC tubing.

You are not measuring oil pressure here.

Can't you tap in to the oil feed line to the cams somehow, by replacing the banjo bolt that comes from the top of the crankcase to the top right raer of the cylinder head.

dunna know, but thats the bolts Yam tell you to remove after an oil change to see if oil is circulating.

When you'e got the cambox cover off, you can see the top of this oil gallery in the cylinder head as it is at the front left side.

If you look at the oil flow diagrams in the WSM you can see that the only feed to the top of the head is from the pipe that joins at the rear right of the cylinder head, this feeds the cams, and then the oil returns to the sump under gravity via this passage, or cam chain tunnel

Gee gee is right about that point on the head though.........you open that to see if oil is circulating and the pressure there is minimal if it exists at all

Hope it's not too much breather pressure [Image: sad.gif]

But the breather hose from the cam cover to the airbox is clear, which I think would negate any pressure build up.

In the 900 WSM you can see that that bolt is definitely at the end of the high pressure oil gallery that feeds the front camshaft bearings. So it does carry high pressure oil.

Right!!!
That's the reason I used the lower left banjo bolt!!! I measure the oil pressure using 1 bar pressure gauge and it seems to work just fine I'll add my conclusions in a few days right after I'll finish checking the behavior of the pressure gauge.

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.

I was thinking of that aswell !
would it be possible to use a TDM 900 oil tank on mkI's and MKII's by removing the respective existing oil tanks ?? as the 900 one has an oil level sensor ??

engine changed july 20
07 on a dyno run it made
79.1BHP / Torque 59.9Had a brief flirtation with a 1999 MKIIa but it blew an exaust valve on the M5 so was sold on to be repaired.

I've heard the 900 called gay (many times) but I think thats the first time I've heard someone call it "the gayman's bike", with the inference that all 900 riders are gay.

I don't know about fitting a different oil tank but back when my bike was burning oil I thought about making sort of a level sensor.
I think one could fit a small float on the dipstick, or preferably something like this temperature gauge and wire it so that it shorts a circuit when the float drops low enough. It would then light a simple dummy light. I do realise that the float would have to be small to fit through the hole on the tank and wires on the dipstick would be a pain.
