I attended my first G2G last weekend over here in Ireland... so being the new guy I was,nt sure how my old Mk1 would match against all the younger Mk2,s and 9,ers... Yep she was the only Mk1 present... All the guys were great and I had a brilllll... weekend, a few beers in the evenings and some great stories.. but getting back to my bike shes a Jan 1st 93 so really a 92 model.. 45k on the clock and with all the expected lovingly used marks and scratchs... so to get her ready for her first apperance I fitted chain and sprockets .. new tubes to help with the mpg.. done the oils , coolents ,tyres pressures, washed and polished... loaded up with all my gear ,tent, seat, sleeping gear, etc, etc, .. The total round trip was 550 miles, getting approx 55 mpg .. the homeward junt was its self 250 miles with a bit of sightseeing ... the whole time I kept saying to myself .. "come on old girl keep her lit" We had a great day on Saturday doing the bye roads and the high roads the back roads and the mountain roads, the highlight being and I will use a quote from Stu in another post "Couldn't get away from Jim on the road to Louisburg, despite taking to the air at some point" Yes me old Mk1 can still hold its own .. So all in all looking back at the weekend I can say I was PROUD of me old Mk1 .. It never missed a beat , never coughed , never spluttered , it done me Proud and I will park it up beside anything at anytime , any place , any were as the TV ad says and I will tell them all .. Yes Shes Mine..... " PROUD OF MY OLD MK1 TDM "
