Selling bikes on MCN
I'm trying to sell my other bike (Bandit 600) through MCN. The add goes into the paper and also on their website. I've had a few bizarre email replies to the add, I've cut and pasted one below. I'm probably going to ignore emails like this, they just seem so suspicious. The one below doesn't even mention that its a bike for sale - it seems like a general purpose response to any advertised goods. Its to be bought as a graduation present - and I thought that graduations were usually towards the end of summer! [Image: dry.gif]

Anybody got any experience of this sort of rubbish?

Message: I am interested in the purchase of your goods and I will like you to know that I will be making the pickup as soon as I make payment to you, I will like you to give me the last selling price for your goods and also the name and address to issue the payment to(cheque), I will be expecting from you also with a phone number where I can reached you at. i will be expecting from you soonest with a response because i will like to make fast purchase because i will to present it as a gift to my son on is graduation day. and i will also want you to tell me if it is presentable.

forget it, how can they email you before the ad is placed?

Remember, if in doubt - throw it out. ignore it, if he is genuine he will contact you after the ad is placed.

Yes, a colleague is selling his car and got a virtually identical message. Avoid at all costs
It a scam.

Either ignore it or if you want to punish them, see if anyone on TSB wants to toy with the idiots.

If you have a spare three days, the "Anus Laptops (Cole V2.0) thread is a good read!

Cheers

Doin valve clearances? Use dappers valve shim exchange program and the job will be carroty - Free (other than you postin me yer shims) for sporting members.
I think this may be one of those Nigerian scams - this message is just the set up, and after a few exchanges of e-mails at some point you would be offered a "bonus payment", asked for bank account number and sort code where they can pay it in....only they clear out your hard earned dosh. Don't even think about replying. Apparently there are people out there gullible enough to get trapped! Did you know "gullible" is not in the Oxford English dictionary? B)

PS I got nowhere selling my Bandit through MCN, but a nice Nigerian man offered me a trade plus cash with an attractive sounding bike called a TDM...
