Home last night at 2100hrs. Got to campsite South of Tipp on Sat to find nearest village about 9km away. Only place to eat was the local hotel and at £10 for breakfast and the cheapest main meal at £22 I decided that I couldn't afford to hang around for the GS lot next Friday! Local pub opened up at 2030hrs only because I was peering through the window and didn't do food apart from out of date Pringles and KP nuts! Decided to go home at 1100hrs on the Sun; made Rosslare for 1300hrs and surprised to find that they put me on the fast ferry at 1500hrs. Fully booked according to Stena in London!
Had a great time and thanks everyone for making it such fun. I had better start saving hard for the next one!
Got home around 8pm Saturday night in time for a BBQ at a mates. Rode bike home at 10:00, then returned to BBQ for beers.
Washed the bike on Sunday and dried the tent on the lawn. Short ride - just to dry the bike off and warm up the freshly lubed chain. Bought a new headlight bulb in Halfords.
Realised yesterday that I'd not wound the scottoiler down after refilling with a slightly thinner oil on thursday. I used an entire fill of oil on the run hom and my back wheel was coated in crud even thicker than normal.
On the plus side I just paid £105 for a new Pilot Road 2 on the back
1992 Mk1, 76k miles, Hagon springs, MTC exhaust, 4½ gears Gone now

Maybe it got a fright up in the woods and trails of Glentaunassig and wet itself????
For the record I got home safely every night. I wasn't always safe during the day.

Just announcing for the record my final safe return home this evening after an overnight stop in Bristol. Crossing from Rosslare was perfect .as were the dry, sunny(!!) rides on both sides of the pond. I was the only 2-wheeler on the 3pm Tuesday ferry, so the scoot received the full attention of a large East Euiropean b*****d deckhand who insisted on crushingly tight strapping down across the seat (in contrast to the neat over-tunnel job from Holyhead). So the big adventure is over, with happy memories of a great time and thanks to all.
Speaking of adventure on small wheels, I wandered over to the Cherbourg ferry queue to mingle with the other bikers there - mostly Italians, Swiss, and Dutch heading home with Pan-Europeans, BM's, etc. but then this Canadian rolled up and announced he was heading for the Ukraine Good luck fella, wherever you are, for sheer guts and good humour!!
