[b]Refitted the head and cams and checked the valve clearances. After some shimmy-swappin' I've got 6 within spec and 4 without spec
Not by mush tho. A prompt PM to Dappers, keeper of the Pa Larkin Quality Handcrafted Shim Retaining System, and my 4 shims are on their way, with a little help also, from Cindy and Sonia 
I'm also awaiting a noo clutch friction plate and a gasket for me tensioner wot I av horded yestadi 
I'll see if I can get some photos sorted when I do the timing.Just broke a tang off me Rad 
Both the screws holding the rad cover were siezed and I were drillin' one of them oot, and it snapped orf. Gonna have a think about how to fix that one, don't fancy buying another rad. Painted a few bits, the water pump and the oil filter cover. Used Hammerite smooth Silver this time, i think the Simoniz Engine Enamel I used previously is gonna be quite a bit lighter than the original engine paint colour.
