We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 12-02-2022 I was reading this article about bike prices and adventure bike alternatives, check out the first bike on list.... :clapping:  https://www.bikerandbike.co.uk/cheaper-alternatives-big-expensive-adventure-bike We Were Right All Along - Snowbird - 12-02-2022 :good: :good: :good: It's a shame they didn't realise the 850 is the better choice... We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 12-02-2022 Quote::good: :good: :good:I'm not brave enough to open that chestnut We Were Right All Along - Snowbird - 12-02-2022 Quote:ÂUrban Stealth Tactical Assault Bikes??? :um: "bell end" was the phrase that came to my mind.... We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 13-02-2022 I never heard of the term, that bit of the article is a bit daft but he's right about costs We Were Right All Along - fixitsan - 13-02-2022 Can't say enough good things about mine, specifically it's reliability. It comes with 'known faults' that are easily rectified but after that it's rock solid. Can't see me getting rid of mine ! We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 13-02-2022 Nor me, I've had mine 17 years, did all the rectification stuff years ago, got 40k on clock now, apart from one cam sensor that failed at home, it's been stone reliable. We Were Right All Along - marko67 - 13-02-2022 Quote: :good: :good: :good: Must admit, I totally agree. Having ridden the pink TDM for awhile and owned two 8fiddlys the old ones have, IMHO, better ergos for rough travel standing up. Higher bars on a pink one may close that gap..  Yeah but nah, that article demonstrates perfectly why I still have the TDM. They are really hard to replace without selling someones kidney. We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 14-02-2022 My brother paid £20,000 for a GSA 1250, more than I have spent on all bikes put together my entire life. Yes it's ok I suppose if you want all that complicated stuff and very powerful, but it kills your budget for actually going places. I'm sticking with the "old nail" as he calls it, like a pair of comfortable old shoes. We Were Right All Along - tdm92 - 14-02-2022 So what are these off road tyres of which he writes? We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 15-02-2022 we both arrive within a few minutes of each other, me being slower means he usually gets the coffee in, so another saving right there. He had a puncture and he couldn't power his compressor because canbus said no. TDM to the rescue. Made up for all the TDM jokes. Not Tedium, This Does Moreð We Were Right All Along - fixitsan - 15-02-2022 Quote:we both arrive within a few minutes of each other, me being slower means he usually gets the coffee in, so another saving right there. Not Tedium, This Does More Like it ! :rotflmmfao: We Were Right All Along - steve27bha - 16-02-2022 Quote:.....he couldn't power his compressor because canbus said no. ... He he he!!  So what could it power? Not much point in a power socket if it can't deliver power! Or did he connect direct to the battery? Does canbus know aboout that? Questions, questions ....  ... but mostly  :locco: :rotflmmfao: We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 17-02-2022 It can power a sat nav apparently, there is a specific plug in canbus box of tricks that lets you power high current devices. £60, but he didn't put one on. He has since rectified this. I don't understand exactly how,but connecting directly to the battery still throws up faults, like everything is monitored all the time. It must be as it's a keyless bike and has data connected in the bike. No phone needed. It's also tracked. I prefer nice and simple TDM's. Key in start and go. We Were Right All Along - dapleb - 17-02-2022 I sometimes work in a dealership where they put these BMW boikes together oooot of the crates. One of guys was plugged in to a boike and tippy tapping on his magic patooota and I asked what he was doing. He was programming it for those silly blinding spaceship lights. I laughed thinking he was joking so he explained to me that without tippy tapping in the option....you can connect silly blinding spaceship lights...but they ain't gonna work. We Were Right All Along - Snowbird - 17-02-2022 I never found a key that hard to operate but I suppose you have to keep things to a level of idiot proofing that suits your customer base. :hide: We Were Right All Along - leehenty - 17-02-2022 Because spaceship light need to be assigned a device id on the network. Nowt wrong with good old fashioned wires and relay. We Were Right All Along - Doggy - 17-02-2022 Yep glad to be back on a TDM, love my 900 but sort of regret selling my 850 a few years ago.  More power to the twin!  Doggy |
