Garmin Xt / Xt2 - alanfavell - 18-05-2025 Could some TDM er who uses the above unit(s) give a definitive answer to the following; Do these units give notice of mobile speed cameras like Waze does? There is some anecdotal ramblings (not on here), which indicate Garmin XT/XT2 may do this, but there seems to be no hard evidence. TIA Favs  Garmin Xt / Xt2 - Trevini - 18-05-2025 I donât/havenât used Waze, but I do have an XT.  It gives general areas of fixed speed camera location (without extra subscription like Tom Tom), but not specific locations. You also get a message flag up for average cameras. Occasionally I get messages asking if a mobile camera is still at a location Iâm passing, so it is possible to get mobile camera locations. How or where they are reported I donât know tbh and the notifications I do get always seem to be out of date time wise.  Comparing those I have used, the paid subscription from Tom Tom has been best, followed by Apple Maps, then XT. Iâve just started using MRA for navigation as well as planning (itâs by far the easiest to use for planning if you want to transfer the route onto an XT). The nav side is MRA on the phone is pretty good, but less so if using CarPlay. It also has a reputation of not being so good with Android Auto to the point of frustration.  Hope that helps! To add⦠thereâs a useful act/XT2 Facebook group that might be worth asking. Garmin Xt / Xt2 - alanfavell - 18-05-2025 Thank for the info Trevini - especially the Out of Date bit. Guessing i'll be sticking with Waze on an android head unit for now,. I won't be able to search for your suggestion - I don't/won't do FBook . Garmin Xt / Xt2 - Trevini - 18-05-2025 No worries. I think each of them has its plus and minus points.  I like then XT generally for the screen layout and the navigation seems to be consistent. Where it doesn't do quite so well is integrating phone/intercom/ nav all at the same time. The music player is clunky compared to a car play unit and if using an intercom, it gets a bit confused as to what to send to the headset if chatting and navigating (hence me going back to a more simple setup of phone and coms unit). It's also a little fussy about the order that you connect things up.  From what I know from other people, Waze takes a bit of beating for live camera updates, but there are better dedicated bike nav units/apps out there. |
