Tcx Ss Sport Waterproof Boots - muddy - 01-10-2016
At the start of my French tour I rode in fairly hard rain and after just a half an hour I could feel my feet were wet. Once on the ferry I took them off and they were soaking. And the worst part was they took an age to dry out.
How can TCX describe these as waterproof when they're not even water resistant. Total shite and only for use in dry weather and therefore can't be used for touring.
I was speaking with a couple of blokes from Durham who had been riding through the downpour all that way and one them had Altberg Hogg boots and his feet were bone dry. I'm gonna bite the bullet and get a pair.

Sorry to hear that, I've used tcx boots for years all be it the proper touring ones Anna's have never got wet except when they finally give up the ghost.
A pair usually last me two or three years of daily commuting.

I've had a pair of TCX Infinity Goretex for a few years of winter commuting. I suspect you have a faulty pair as TCX have an excellent reputation AFAIK

Meant to have a waterproof lining. Not Goretex though and definitely not waterproof. Can't send them back as I got them on ebay, hardly used. I reckon he used them once in the rain and that was enough. Can't blame him, the git.

Concur with Matlock, same boot, same rain as you muddy and bone dry feet in 2 days of heavy rain.....even goretex will screw up eventually.

My TCX infinity boots were horrible nasty uncomfortable leaky pieces of shit, contacted TCX and got nowhere, contacted goretex under their brand promise, they also didn't want to know and took them off their list of official footwear.
Now happily wearing sidi adventure goretex boots which ARE actually waterproof.

I'm tempted to go for Altberg's next time I buy boots. Like the idea of having a variety of widths to choose from and also their reasonable prices.

Well, yeah, not cheap at twice the price of them leaky boots you bought, but they should last for years.....and they're waterproof.

Oh I only paid £30 odd on ebay, but they were hardly used. I've learned my lesson. If the Altbergs keep my feet dry and are comfortable to do a bit of hill walking, they'll be worth it.

Altbergs are extremely well made and comfortable they use the same foot-beds as in their walking boots so hiking in them is no problem and in 15 years of use I have never had wet feet plus the fact when you wear the sole out you can get them resoled by them at a very reasonable price.

They look well made but there doesn't look like much protection, or is there? I'm concerned that if/when I crash on the road then the bike is likely to go down with my leg under it in some way and feck my ankles etc...
