For Sale Section - Rules... - dmmsta - 29-11-2016 Following on from a recent "War & Peace" sale post...  Quote:Mods: can we have some sort of protocol whereby a seller has to state a price and nip this nonsense in the bud. It's not the first time rows have developed over this sort of thing and it's all totally unnecessary. If you can't decide maybe we ought to have a vote. A valid point.  Perhaps some of the Carpe-Lifers would offer up a little of their time as Mods specifically for the for-sale section. Also - settings allowing, perhaps For Sale posts could be set to be approved prior post (this happens on a Cage forum I'm on).  Doesnt meet the criteria, doesn't ever get seen.  I'd be happy to be a mod / approver on the Sale section... For Sale Section - Rules... - muddy - 29-11-2016 Seconded. Happy to help out if needed. It's not the first time we've had a rucas with people playing silly buggers in For Sale and it won't be the last if nothing is done. This place is slow enough as it is, we cant be losing people through completely avoidable rows. For Sale Section - Rules... - chrisr - 29-11-2016 Spoilsports! If it dont have the info you need there is probably a raisin!! Carpe has always been very good at self regulating and I would rather not put in any mod validation prior to post. If it dont have the info you need there is probably a raisin!!Furry Muff boss ![]() For Sale Section - Rules... - Gdog - 30-11-2016 Carpeadians, I'm by no means a "long termer" on this site but I think 4 years is enough to put my thoughts out there :badgerrock:  The last and possiblly the only two posts (in my 4 years) that have got way out of hand to say the least were solely down to (IMHO) the antagonising, passive/agressive nature of one individual. End of , no discussion.  I thought that it was normal protocol when selling something (anything) to state it's age, overall condition (inc. any faults known), anything from non - standard, the colour helps and in the case of a motor vehicle (be it bike, car or van) it's service history (if any), any M.O.T. still applicable, any extras and above all how much your asking for it !! If you are not prepared to move on your price simply put "firm" and if you are open to offers simply state "or nearest offer", oh and the old faithful one - "if you need any more info please contact me" bloody simple really.  These few things could have saved a lot unnecessary heated keyboards across the site recently and what (again IMHO) was more conserning the rants were forced from some of our "elder satesmen" and I don't mean that in an ageist way chaps simply that these guys have been here for yonks and were simply trying to pull a "newbie" in the right direction and within the "spirit of the forum" got dragg'd into the debarcle that ensued !!  So, if you (the admin) are to apply a set of rules for the "For Sale" section can the above be included, or even better is it possible to create (with the superb knowledge base for all things computerised amongst our fold I don't beleive I just put that !! :hide: ) a new and simple populated fields form, something similar to the things you get when advertising in a motoring magazine or local rag and if all the fields are not completed satisfactorily it will not let the applicant proceed to "Post Ad ", just a thought peeps.  There I've said my piece.  Admin, if you want any (limited) help or discuss any of the above please contact me via the "PM" facility.  Edited 10:42 - to include "spirit of the forum"  ![]() For Sale Section - Rules... - TYREDNGRUMPEE - 30-11-2016 Quote:solely down to (IMHO) the antagonising, passive/agressive nature of one individual. +1 Aggrozzle  Some did take matters to another level too IMHO, but still, bloody ridiculous and a real shame too, because passive/aggressive has some nice bikes to sell.  If there aren't to be simple, straightforward rules, then maybe we should care and nurture the event, calling it a forum feature or even a sport for carpedians? ![]()  Henceforth - He shall be known as PA. I will still get yes name wrong. ;-) For Sale Section - Rules... - fixitsan - 30-11-2016 Most annoying, I still have three goats I cannae ride on the highway...  Perhaps a separate forum called 'open to offers'   or 'Haggle' ?   I like the 'form submission' idea best......or make it compulsory that the price is in the title.. For Sale Section - Rules... - Rallyist - 30-11-2016 the old story no price walk away no sale, dealers do that large page advert without prices waste of money advert For Sale Section - Rules... - TYREDNGRUMPEE - 30-11-2016 Quote:I like the 'form submission' idea best......or make it compulsory that the price is in the title.. Maybe limit the number of replies a third party is allowed to make with regards to the sale too? Most people can take a hint and get with the programme but not in the For Sale section. It's not unprecedented to have rules, you nailed up to stickies for PMing and *Sold*, so there. But you're El Dolce and I'm but a humble prole who doesn't know his place. For Sale Section - Rules... - Gdog - 30-11-2016 Quote:Matters not how long ewe have been here dgod . . . For Sale Section - Rules... - Studley Ramrod - 30-11-2016 Doesn't matter what I think as Dappers is the boss.  BUT, I'm entitled to an opinion so here it is.  I'm with Dappers and Rallyist tbh, if the seller doesn't offer a price or other information, or they're being shirty with their comments, then walk away. It takes 2 to argue. I agree with Dgog that adding a few simple points of information could have avoided a lot of the ranting, but it doesn't always happen. I've seen peeps commenting in a rather direct way about the price of the item a seller is asking when they think it's too high and ensuing rants taking place. Yes, the technology is prolly there for us to design a populated fields form, but I'm fook'd if oi know how to mek wan and I'm betting there'd be disagreement on what fields to include, what colour the header should be etc, etc. ![]() For Sale Section - Rules... - Gettin1soon - 30-11-2016 Think you're pretty much on the money Studders. If you don't like an advert, you don't HAVE to make a big deal about it. If someone chooses to advertise something without a price then, usually, that will result in less response......result .....normally no sale! Nothing to get too excited about I'd have thought. Perhaps, those who would like more controls, or forms etc, could volunteer to put something useful together, rather than making work for the guys who already do a lot of 'behind the scenes' work....I suspect they would rather be out playing on, or with, their bikes rather than spending more time on the computer.
