Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 16-07-2017 Have had a quick google, will do more google but does anyone have any advice/steps for building a base pleasey? Heating Oil Tank Base - bondy - 16-07-2017 Concrete with some reinforcing mesh, minimum 4 inches thick. Boop Boop. Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 16-07-2017 Cheers bondy badger. Is that it! Might be able to do that me'sen!! Thought it were gonna be breezey blocks, some sand, magic sprinkles etc. Guess sit it up high for good gravitational pull. Heating Oil Tank Base - MickC - 16-07-2017 Its not just a case of building the base Dappers.the base has to be set away from drains/water course--opening windows fire hazards and vents.Have a read of this.  https://www.oftec.org.uk/consumers/domestic-oil-tanks-and-storage Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 16-07-2017 Ta Mick was just havin a read of that and laughing at the 760mm away from boundary with a 4 metre wide garden haaaa! So that would put my oil tank slap bang in the middle of the garden!!! Heating Oil Tank Base - jono49 - 17-07-2017 And dont forget the 300mm bit :good:......The base must extend 300mm beyond all sides of the tank base!!! Heating Oil Tank Base - MickC - 17-07-2017 Dappers-- Jono  Read this bit  If it is impossible to comply with these requirements, then a fire protection barrier with at least 30 minutes fire rating should be provided. A minimum separation distance of 100mm is required between the tank and fire rated barrier unless a larger distance is specified by the tank manufacturer.  What that means is for one the 300mm wider than the tank base is there to prevent fire (grass catching alight) from reaching the base of the tank. And you can build a fire wall of 4inch (100mm) concrete block along the edge of the base as a fire barrier so you can put the tank nearer the fence(leave enough room for maintainance.)  If you go to the worcester bosh site and download a boiler install manuall (any one) it will show with piccys how to install the tank as well as boiler. Heating Oil Tank Base - ramotdm - 17-07-2017 By the way you should not be siting a steel tank directly onto a concrete base, plastics ok :good: Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 17-07-2017 Yeah new one will be plastic ramo. . . Or that was the plan. The regulations about distances from fence must be very new/ignored as all my neighbours have em up against the fence too!! Going to be a big headache this. I have started looking at tanks that have the 30min do dah built in..... But they dont tell you the price gulp!!!!! Heating Oil Tank Base - wicklamulla - 17-07-2017 Quote:Yeah new one will be plastic ramo. . . Or that was the plan. Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 17-07-2017 The existing one is not far off rot so needs replacing really. Do ewe know size of Devonia wan wicky? Gonna need size small or wont be able to walk down either side of it in the garden ----- which is surely a fire hazard in itself. :-) Heating Oil Tank Base - MickC - 17-07-2017 Try this for info==  https://www.commercialfuelsolutions.co.uk/downloads/oftec/T19_base_construction.pdf  Dont forget it it says away from combustiable material, if the fence was that concrete slated stuff (yeah feckin ugly) but you would be ok. Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 17-07-2017 Both side fences wood. Have some stone left from demolishing the back of house did think I would just take out a wooden fence panel by tank and replace with stone wall!! Really not got many options due to space! BonKers!!!! Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 17-07-2017 So to scale our current very narrow oil tank could only sit like this this!!!! [attachment=o10084] Or more amusingly like this. [attachment=o10085] To scale. The sides of the paper is our boundaries and the boiler includes 300mm base! Crazy!!!!! Heating Oil Tank Base - jono49 - 17-07-2017 Get a steel one like I ordered recently and make sure you paint it...... http://www.jseed.co.uk/catalog/steel-tanks/114-single-skin-tanks.html  Made to order! I've ordered single skin steel, 1100 litres with 150mm channel feet on it so the bottom is not sitting in water, and easy to get a roller under to paint it as well, much cheaper than plastic and more durable....if ya paint them! Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 22-07-2017 So now thinking of a steel tank as we can get Juan made by jonos mates to our own spec (ie tiny!!!) I cannot find any info about what base to use for steel tanks!!!! Other than its not a concrete base like a plastic tank grrr. Also read that bases should have a fall of 20mm every metre to stop detritus from gettin in the poipe.... Worth knowing. Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 22-07-2017 Nevermind found it. Just website wouldn't work on my tellingbone. Heating Oil Tank Base - jono49 - 22-07-2017 Quote:So now thinking of a steel tank as we can get Juan made by jonos mates to our own spec (ie tiny!!!)My order will have 150mm chanel feet fitted to the base of the tank thus keeping off the ground and ease of painting under there with a small foam roller :good: You too can specify this with yours :good: Heating Oil Tank Base - dapleb - 22-07-2017 Yup that sounds loike the way to go with channel feet. |
