Looks a bit TDMish too me?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> That's nice The only thing that let's it down in my opinion is the headlight part. Apart from that very tasty. It's the Cologne Bike show soon, hopefully Yamaha will announce the TDM 1000 Kawasaki TDM? - beeble-tdm9 - 31-07-2006 Looks funky... more MT-03 than TDM though in my eyes. Although have to agree, pegs and bars look like it will have a riding position like the TDM. Kawasaki TDM? - TonyDevil - 31-07-2006 look nice, i prefer the looks to that of the 900. shame its only a 650. Kawasaki TDM? - Difflock - 31-07-2006 It does look good, but that headlight.... ICK! (need to find a frontal shot of the Kwak to post on here.) Diff. Kawasaki TDM? - Minty Hippo - 31-07-2006 Credit to Kwak for producing a real-world bike, maybe there'll be a 1000cc version as well???? Don't fancy that belly pan silencer though... Although I wonder what engine they'll use for it. This one is entirely based on the ER6 (so is the frame) and they don't really have a larger cc version of that. <!--quoteo(post=12651:date=Mon 31st Jul 2006, 07:19 PM:name=Minty Hippo)-->QUOTE(Minty Hippo @ Mon 31st Jul 2006, 07:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->Don't fancy that belly pan silencer though... It's just like many of th eother all-roaders, it talks the talk, but doesn't entirely walk the walk... But the story behind belly pan silencers is a bit longer than that. AFAIK it was Buell that did them first following their "mass centralization" premisse, then came the supersports that mimicked delevopments on the motogp bikes. And then Kawasaki used this one on the new ER6 models. Dont' fancy the look myself though methinks the Buell and the suzuki gixxer one look way better. I like the general look of it though. Kawasaki TDM? - LIAW - 01-08-2006 I like that bike except for the underslung exhaust, best not go over large speed bumps too fast two up then !! Kawasaki TDM? - andyj - 01-08-2006 These central exhausts are all about fitting the strangling catal;ytic converters and stopping you buying aftermarket replacements. Don't you need a longer exhaust tract for better torque? How come they're getting shorter? How come they're getting shorter?<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> It's all about copying the MotoGP bikes. Having the exhaust lowerdown makes for a lower C of G which helps cornering. On a bike like the Versys this of course is essential It's just the latest bike fashion, underseat / high level exhausts are just so 2005 I'm surprised they haven't put radial brakes on it! Kawasaki TDM? - duibhceK - 01-08-2006 <!--quoteo(post=12713:date=Tue 1st Aug 2006, 11:41 AM:name=nitram)-->QUOTE(nitram @ Tue 1st Aug 2006, 11:41 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->It's just the latest bike fashion, underseat / high level exhausts are just so 2005 on boikes like this kwak they are purely a fashion item. But it's not black and white that you absolutely need longer pipes for better torque. Technology evolves, just have a read-up on the buell "active" belly-exhaust. These adapt the length exhaust fumes travel dependent on rpms. The testosteronkiddies on their supersports bikes don't care about torque, they just want their 150+ bhp at 16000rpm. That's why those mini exhausts work on the gixxer and the likes. And of course it's cool 'cause "it came from the motogp" Kawasaki TDM? - andyj - 01-08-2006 Well bollocks to that! I want an engine that pulls strongly from low down so I don't have to be tap-dancing on the gear lever. If I want tens of thousands of RPM then I'll go and wring the neck of me ZZR250. Kawasaki TDM? - andyj - 01-08-2006 Not to sure, Wicky. It only passed its MOT on Saturday. It feels like its all over by 90-95mph, but then again it is haulin nearly 17 stone of payload. Compared to the TDM or even my Divvy the pegs are quite high, even for my 5' 7". I wouldn't really want to go a long way on it. I'm just looking to use it for my 15-20 mile commute to see if it can better my 40-45mpg fuel consumption. EDIT: It be red, BTW. And the second sign turned out exactly the same Let me know about tomorrow, I'm happy to do it any other day. I'm off all day sunday, though I'm supposed to strip the old 850 to look at the carb internals |
