TDM900 at NEC 2006 - SteveOne - 02-11-2006 Went to the bike show at the NEC (birmingham) yesterday. The new Triumph Tiger does look good - they had three on display, including a white one. They only had one to sit on, and it was very very busy. On the Yamaha stand I found a black TDM/A. I think I was the only one paying it any attention. Sad, very sad. Why are people only interested in the brand new models ? I bought myself a pair of waterproof Oxtar boots. I didn't manage to find a new helmet though. Had a sit on the tdm900 and tbh it fells smaller than my 850, but i think thats down to the smaller screen. That's why I'm such a fan of custom bikes, like LIAWs, you won't see anything else like it. People who like fours (like the average bike-mag journo ) may say a triple oozes character, but if you come from big singles and twins the triple is rather clinical, unengaging and "buzzy". Surely, the Triumph triple is a great engine, incredibly well developed in a very short period of time, and superb for powering fast modern (sport-)tourers, but somehow it doesn't seem to work in an "all-road" bike (or whatever the term is for these days for this sort of bike): It kind of lacks "chunkiness". I mean, would you like a Fazer engine in your TDM? I do like the black frame and engine. Not sure about the red line around wheel rims though. New sidepanel decals are nice. No don't like new Tiger's seat, don't think it would be as good as the earlier models for touring so whats it going to be aimed at then ??
