Exhaust - KD1 - 29-11-2006

Hi,

I have just recently purchased a TDM 900 06 , really love the bike as i love the twin cylinder grunt,

I would like to know which are the best exhaust that be put on the TDM which will give it a deep Ducati sound.

And where can i get a tall screen.

Many thanks [Image: cool.gif]

Hi and Welcome
Why not put duke silencers on it then.
Yamaha and lots of aftermarket taller screens available.

I just fitted a set of Carbon Can Co twin outlet oval cans...... lovely sound, £245 for the pair, and connecting pipes, last day of the bike show deal, I expect the CCC website will give prices, and the guys and girls here will know how to post a link. Unfortunately I am a complete duffer where the interweb is concerned, but maybe one of the children will help me post a new pic. Good luck and welcome to the site!

For anyone UK-based who's interested, Staintunes importer (amongst other things) is:

Woody's Importarium Ltd
42 Margaret St
Abercynon
Mid Glamorgan.

Mike Bines (Director) is a really nice, helpful guy.

PS for the horny-minded, the 115 dB PIAA's look interesting!

Hi Keith, if I've done this right, there should be a link above which will take you to Carbon Can Co's website, if I did it wrong, they are in Fleetwood, Lancashire, UK. [Image: blink.gif]

Hi KeithD!! If you want a Ducati (Italian) sound, buy Italian exhausts! They know how to get that deep sound! LeoVince for example!
I had a LeoVince 2 to 1, titan, not road legal, on my -98 TDM some years ago and they sounded nice!
They also make carbon cans, they sound even better. [Image: cool.gif]

The Over Racing titanium cans and stainless steel exhaust on my '05 sounds nice and deep without being obnoxiously loud (88.9 db). The yen-quid exchange rate would make them reasonable if you're spending in pounds. 4.5kg lighter than stock. Only downside is you can't keep the centerstand if you've got one. Oil/oil filter changes are no problem.

I think Fuel Exhausts of Kendal in Cumbria are doing a special offer on stainless exhausts with removable baffles. About £200 for the two silencers and connecting pipes including a piece to allow you to retain the centre stand. They are road legal and marked as such but have removable baffles for that authentic Lancaster bomber sound.

Exhaust - zuma - 02-12-2006

Met a guy today who had a Staintune system on his 900, he was very pleased with it, definite jump in power according to him, and no change in fuel consumption, but jeeze was it loud, and he wasn't even fanging it when he rode off. Think I'll be giving Staintune a miss, in overregulated Oz I'd be constantly worried about being pulled over by revenue raisers, err... I mean Police.

Sure I could leave the baffles in to quieten it down but then what would be the point, I'd have spent $1200 for a negligable increase in sound level and a slight weight saving, which I'm sure I wouldn't even notice, and I'm quite happy with the performance as is. I must say the Kendal system sounds interesting, wonder what I could land a system in Oz for? 200 Pomgolian pounds equates to about $500 Australian, I'll have to investigate further.

Exhaust - sparra99 - 02-12-2006

Cortez, The Staintunes sound awesome even with the baffles in. They are road legal and Staintunes will supply the engraved plates to certify this. I have been running without the baffles and have not had any probs with the police. The baffles make a difference but are still way better than the standard exhaust. I have a center stand and have not had to make any changes as only the left side goes near the stand but does not impact on it.
You gotta do it......

I should visit the Fuel Exhausts website www.fuelexhausts.com . I guess the price would be £202.50 less the VAT (17.5%) plus shipping costs and you can buy on line. Sounds like a good deal. [Image: smile.gif]

Cheers

Fuel exhausts are very well made. not heard any complaints from anyone using them, there are rather a lot of bikes around these parts fitted with the fuel's (and the bafles unbolt should you so desire) [Image: good.gif]

Exhaust - LIAW - 03-12-2006

my 'FUEL' cans do not have removable baffles as they're just plain naughty ones, but they do have nice TDM logo's on them.

I have a pair of Akrapoviks on my 900, they are awesome, add around 4bhp and the engine doesn't need to be tinkered with...........................just got to work out how to get off the not for road use markings! [Image: blink.gif]
