I recently started a newsletter for the business and it has been suggested that it would a good idea to be able to be able to use video clips in it. I have absolutely no experience in this area but I can handle a regular DSLR and Photoshop. I need to get a reasonable videocam for basic use mostly indoors with fair sound that will produce pics that I can distribute digitally. I don't want to spend big money as it is an experiment and I want something that is foolproof (point and shoot) due to my lack of experience. I have imovie on the mac so I guess I can learn some editing. Basic and simple is what I need.

TeDeum, We got a Sony Handycam at Christmas. It's 60GB and will hold 45HOURS of video...but the standard battery lasts 1.5hrs. They also sell a 5hr battery mind you. My only complaint is the software will not work on Vista and the lens needs to be opened manually while the JVC has an automatic lens cover. It has a brilliant 60X zoom as well and a Karl Zeiss lens.
This is the 60GB Model and the cheaper 4GB SD version 4GB SD Version
This crowd are in Ireland and deliver anywhere for 8 squid - I bought from them and no problem.

I would start with the video your DSLR probably already takes.
Your newsletter will be online.... no need to spend money on a high quality outfit
when your results will be limited by the constraints of a webpage/monitor anyway.
