Isle Of Man Health Care Petition - peterkelly - 13-01-2010 another petition to be signed In order to prevnet the removal of reciprocal health care between UK and IoM there is a petition on the non10 website and it would be good if we can srnegthen support for this. The wording ofn the petition (below ) is not brilliant, but hoefully will have an impact of ther are enough signatories (over 7,000 already) ".....We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Reinstate the Reciprocal Health Agreement between the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man. Just like the Channel Islands will have to from April 1st 2009, from April 1st 2010 health care in the UK for Manx residents and vice versa will no longer be free, due to the UK governments decision to withdraw from the agreement! This is clearly against the best interests of all the parties involved, and we wish it to be continued, for the mutual benefit of all those on business, holiday, education or any other reason....." This should be the link: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/HealthcareIOMUK/ This will affect TT visitors as well as ourselves on the RTT10. I signed about 6 weeks ago. The IOM TT Marshals Association sent me an email today, saying there is a meeting next tuesday between the Manx Government and Andy Burnham the Health Secretary. Apparently our lot are saying they won't change their minds, but we all know what a bunch of lying bastards they are. The Tories are now sniffing about, hoping for election fodder. So maybe there is hope. Fingers crossed. Pete<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd--> Isle Of Man Health Care Petition - stubottle - 13-01-2010 I signed the petition and wrote to my local MP, who's the Shadow Transport Secretary. Hopefully he'll see some political ammunition in it. The Marshal's Association need to get something sorted quickly, though. CAMRA and the British Legion managed to get an agreement in place for their visitors. |
