Sky Broadband? - jollygiant - 22-01-2010 Does anybody have sky broadband if so what's it like?? I have been with Demon for a few years now and whilst there costumer service is shite the broadband is god but since sky are doing broadband, tv and phone package for half the price I'm paying now I'm thinking of changing! I do download 2 or 3 films a week and play online quite a bit so need to know if the speeds are good 'n constant? Sky Broadband? - Peasy - 22-01-2010 We've got Sky Broadband. I don't do much downloading but I would say it is good and quick. Sky Broadband? - andysymmons - 22-01-2010 I use it big fella and as ya know i'm always on here, faceache and xbox live plus mrs Moose is always on hers and never had a problem, just be warned that practically any customer service centre is based abroad so it's always gonna be a bag 'o shoite Hows the back doing? Moose Sky Broadband? - poldark - 22-01-2010 Not sure if its changed but recall the "free" broadband Sky do is only 2Mb speed and you pay for the necessary 8Mb option. Though you won't actually see those speeds anyway, suggest you do a line check using your telephone number on their website first. I've had good results using O2, who have up to 20Mb at very reasonable rates if you have a mobile from them, so perhaps check them too? Sky Broadband? - middlewich - 22-01-2010 I use Sky and download a couple of torrents a week - no issues. Speed is reasonable and constant. I pay for the 8mg but my exchange only allows me to get about 4 or 5. My lad lives 20 miles away uses sky and gets about 6mg . he downloads on average 4-6 gb a week.(naughty) My dl speeds on torrents usually range from 150 -800 kb/s - id say averaging 400. Only ever had 1 tech issue in 3yrs - that was a faulty modem - they replaced within 24hrs. Call centre was in Scotland somewhere - judging by the accents Sky Broadband? - ajfergie - 22-01-2010 Yip Im on sky broadband too, Changed recently from tiscali but now paying a lot less for my sky service, as mentioned the line speed is an issue as we are limited by our local exchange. I`m on the free broadband up to 2mb which has a download limit, and i pay an extra £5.00 for the free evening and weekend calls. Its only another £5.00 or so for up to about 8mb download speed and unlimited download allowance but until our exchange is upgraded its pointless for me. All that said, the service so far has been faultless cheers ajfergie........ Sky Broadband? - Guest - 23-01-2010 I'm with sky too. Hasn't been the most reliable, paying for 8mb but only getting around 2.5mb and I guess I'm less than 2 mile from the exchange which has been unbundled. I think there should be a lower level to this "UP TO" bollocks coz once you're signed up they don't give a shit. Virgin are the best around here, Sons paying for 10mb and he's getting around 9.8mb. Sky Broadband? - wolfrunner - 24-01-2010 Any broadband that comes down your phone cable is dependant on your location to the nearest phone exchange. That is why all the companys advise "upto 8 meg" or whatever. If you live next door to a exchange your connection will be very very good, but your speed will decrease the further you are from the said exchange. That is why its very advisable to get a line test off the supplier and see what they can offer you. I have fiber optic (Virgin) so i am on 20 meg unless i upgrade. And most of the time i am getting 18 to 19 average speeds. And yes i spend a lot of time online with forums, games and aquiring video . |
