Bike For A Learner - Trotski - 23-01-2010

Has anybody any experience riding a KLE500, I'm loooking for a learner Bike for my youngest Son, soon to get his "L" plate, here in NSW he can ride up 660cc, he's about 6' tall, and has experience riding 250cc trail bikes in the bush and on Fire trails, but will need something that can handle highway running and some dirt roads.
I like the look of the KLE and also the Parallel Twin Engine, + I should be able to pick one up for under $3500 (cross fingers).

What sort of trouble ,if any , can i expect to see in a used one.

Coming home late, drunkenness, back chat, clothes every where, not doing as they are asked, being on the phone all the time, porn under his bed... are to name a few of things son's but a used one could be worse I think...

I've got 4 boys so I know all of the coming troubles, but do you know anything about a KLE500?

I had an older KLE500, perfect learner bike really. Not too powerful, 50bhp, good for a ton, cruise at 70mph, and enough to get you out of trouble. Comfy to ride and reasonable economy.
Engine's a screamer right up to 11,000rpm sounded great on mine Camchain noise was the only -ve, was told it's a Kawasaki trait.
Paid about £500 for mine here in Englandsirecestershire !

I had one as a winter bike - very stable and chuckable, not sure if they're much good off road (dropped mine in mud ), poor build quality so expect bits to fall off, shares engine with gpz500 & er5.
