Inconsistent Yamaha Parts Prices! - Matlock - 18-02-2010 Last time I cleaned up the rear caliper on my 900 I noticed that the pins that the caliper slides on were a bit corroded and the small rubber boots which protect the pins were getting a bit brittle and one was split. So I ordered the bits from Fowlers yesterday, full marks to Fowlers, the stuff arrived today - actually less than 24 hours since I ordered them. But will you look at the prices : ![]() The pins, nicely machined hardened steel, £2.89 each. The poxy little rubber boots were £9.14 each! Probably cost a penny to make! By the way if you run a 900, you might want to check out those pins, especially if you use the bike all year. I was quite surprised at how much corrosion there was. Probably a result of the steel pins being in contact with the alloy calipers. Add in some salt and water and bingo - electrolysis! I'll post some pics when I get the blighters out, probably in a week or two, if this bloody weather improves. PK i thought one simply used ure trolley jack and strop technique ? Inconsistent Yamaha Parts Prices! - dapleb - 20-02-2010 Thaz why I'm trying to find a non destructive dismantling technique. Them bushes are serious buckeroonies and for the loife of me I can't dismantle without trashing them. grrrrr. I might PM him to find out where he is gettin the few quid wans from. No reply in that post...... Inconsistent Yamaha Parts Prices! - ChrisG - 20-02-2010 It's the bushes I want to replace though, no visable leaks from the seals but I'm paranoid about a tiny bit of movement in the bushes after trashing the last pair of forks. Fowlers dind't have the oil seals in stock, so they said they'd send out the rest and send the seals when they arrived. Initial Citilink tried to deliver the main batch of Friday, that I then had to go and pick up, but the seals came by Royal Mail and arrived on Saturday morning, so I got the bits that were out of stock before the bits they had Inconsistent Yamaha Parts Prices! - drobinson - 24-02-2010 quote - Inconsistent Yamaha Parts Prices! more like incontinent yamaha prices - they're taking the piss!!
