Wonder if I can take with me a "maintenance free" battery for the bike as a check-in luggage...? Anybody done it..? I'm flying (easyjet) to Milan to pick up my bike, I know the battery will be dead (is old and has been dying for months), Read the airline "fine print" and it says: "no wet cell batteries are allow"... BUT..! you can take "leak proof" wheelchair batteries!!! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]
Question is: "will the TDM classify as a "wheel chair"...??? [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rotflmmfao.gif[/img] Maybe I can say at the airport that my Yamaha wheel chair is stranded in Italy without a battery??? [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif[/img]
Buying the battery in Italy will mean more money (taxis, etc) and time wasting... Here, I got a car and know exactly where to get a good deal on the right battery!

why not have wemoto (or similar euro friendly bike parts sender) post the battery out to where the bike is stored?

According to a couple of the guys at work who've carried far dodgier things to far dodgier places, a sealed gell cell still counts as a wet battery, though some airlines have different rules. You can carry one on any airline if you've got the right carriage certificate (depending on your business you might find someone at work who can do one for you), but best advice is talk to the airline.
